If memory serves me well, only jpg/jpeg is accepted, not png.

In several cases when I added albums from the artist page and covers (they were ok and jpg/jpeg) were not loaded. I fixed this using Admin panel, but all non-collabs can do in such cases is to report it in the forum, like projeKct did Clap. Thanks to him, because sometimes less responsible users leave empty covers as they are, it's hard to notice them if it's not the current year release shown on PA front page.

Why is there no musicians on most albums?

Current
  • Jeremy Galindo – guitar (2003–present)
  • Christopher Royal King – guitar (2003–present)
  • Jesse Kees – bass, keys (2016–present)
  • Robi Gonzalez – drums (2016–present)

Former
  • Andrew Miller – drums (2003–2009)
  • Raymond Brown – bass guitar, keyboard (2003–2007)
  • Donovan "Dono" Jones – bass guitar, keyboards, Rhodes piano (2007–2016)
  • Alex Bhore – drums (2009–2016)

I think the band is a "root of evil" here because they (Lazy b*****ds!) don't bother to point out line-ups on bandcamp pages.  Smile

Using your info I can add "main" line-ups, but I don't know whether guest musicians were involved.

Thanks, I'll correct additions by tupan as I can and leave TCat's 2020 releases to him - as an SC he has all the power to make updates.

You might be right. The album add screen says jpg. It may have been band photos that we had to change the file type to overwrite. Could have sworn I had to do the same for albums. Might also have been different in admin panel.

Also, thanks for ending the flac tyranny. Used to drive me bonkers when my album info was changed because apparently the only format ever is .flc.

^ It seems my former teammate Quinino spoiled with "FLAC download - bandcamp.com" hundreds (!) of PA pages. Angry

I remember Mayer (mbzr48) often asked me: "Why he always writes FLAC download? FLAC is not the only digital format!".
Till now I didn't know it's on so huge number of pages.

About 300 albums with "FLAC download - bandcamp.com".

Changed in 100 to "Digital album - bandcamp.com", left the rest 200 for later. Censored

I just keep the default from George's ap which is "Download + Streaming" and add the pertinent info for any physical media that's available. I figure digital files are probably available from multiple sources: Bandcamp, Amazon, Apple, etc.

^ I agree, not only bandcamp provides digital versions.

Looks like it's enough to point out something like "Digital album, available on different platforms" instead of "FLAC download - bandcamp.com".
Or, even better, simply "Digital album" or "Digital album (Download + Streaming)"; those who are interested will find I believe Smile a legal resource.

Anyway it would be helpful to find a proper description and then update some 300 or more albums.

Hey guys, there's a small mistake in the Groundhogs page. They released two studio albums in 1976, The first one Crosscut Saw was released in February and the second was Black Diamond released in October. PA shows them inversely.

If I would post an album like that with no songs it will be removed, why do people that have a position think they can do that?

1. Principio
2. Atlantis
3. Diluvio
4. Fuggi
5. Nilo
6. Gli Uomini della Luna
7. Solo Sabbia
8. The Sun Can Shine Again I
9. The Sun Can Shine Again II

^^ Thanks, Mayer, both done.

I didn't see that Avalon Legend had empty track list, otherwise I would report the album to Admins, no matter who added it. Smile

Sometimes the information isn't always that apparent and sometimes spending so much time trying to find the lineup on one album isn't as important as trying to update the database as much as possible, especially on new releases.  If someone has information for a certain album, then it is always welcome, as this information is welcome.  However, what is the source?  How do I know it can be trusted if the source of the information isn't listed?  It looks like the information showing above is coming from Wikipedia, however they only show album releases up to 2018, so it probably hasn't been updated to include the new albums.

^ Is it always so urgent to add albums as soon as possible? The world will not stop turning if some album is added one-two months later. I always thought that it's better to do the work once but properly than doing it partially many times.

I agree with Mayer, in case of limited editions the earlier they are added, the better, because later such editions become expensive rarities. But what's the use of hurrying in case of "normal" releases, especially pure digital albums? Will they disappear on bandcamp?

I'm quite a long time here, on PA, and often see that albums with incomplete info stay "incomplete" for years. People add them thinking to update info later and then forget them.

P.S. Regarding This Will Destroy You albums up to 2018, I used Mayer's info, compared to info on Discogs (including booklets' images) and then updated pages. The whole thing took an hour or two, I don't remember.

^The information for instrumentation for the new album "Vespertine" and the rarities EP is not available yet.  However, if we wait until that info is available, we may: 1) wait and it is never updated, or 2) forget about adding the album altogether, just like you mention when people think they will come back to it later.  So, it is a wash out either way.  The albums don't have to be added as soon as possible, but it is better to have them in the database, even with partial information, then to not have them at all.  I have been going through the artists listed under "A" over these past few months, and about half of them do not have complete discographies, some are quite lacking.  All other sites that have album release information put the album up first whether they have all the info or not.  I agree that a certain degree of information should be had before putting it in the database, but if we have most of the information such as album cover, track listing, etc. then it should be added.  If it can't all be added at once, then we should update it later as we run across it.  Anyway, that's just my opinion.  I think we should at least strive to have a complete discography as possible, so that's where my focus has been.

^ OK, but "put yourself in my place. I'm the law and order" (c) - how we (E&O Team) can demand from non-collabs to provide full info if one collaborator writes "Instrumentation is not clear at the moment", another collab adds an album with empty track list etc?

After all we have guidelines (standard, policy) on adding albums and try to follow them as much as possible. Don't we?
