Yep, we have a lot of accents, I can think of 8 major ones at least, but the funny thing is that because of the globalization some of these accents are starting to disappear.
For some reason some softwares have portuguese and brazillian portuguese, but we can understand each other, although some words have different meanings.

I know that first album although I don't play it often: the constantly detuned bass and the drummer always showing off, get on my nerves. Two of the members (I think the drummer was one of those) continued in the 80's on one of the worst pop acts, Heróis do Mar Dead
I prefer 'Ascenção e Queda' from Petrus Castrus, in terms of Symph, although the concept and representation are important factors to why I like it. Their female vocalist also became a pop rock artist in the 80's.

I would really like to know what do you think of this portuguese jazzy space rock artist Smile

This is his latest album

What can you recommend me from danish prog? I think I never listened to any. Ermm

Hi Sam, sorry I left you hanging yesterday. I was reviewing. Oh and nice write up from you tooClap Seems like we're the only ones to have written about Brotherhood of the Machine. I do think yours is the better one though - very informative. I read mine this morning and it read like I'd spent the better half of yesterday digesting mescalin....and all I did was to listen to that album. Oh well...

Never heard of Handwrist before - I'll be sure to check it out, thanks manBig smile 'Jazzy space rock artist' is enough persuasion, really.

Danish prog bands eh?
Let's start out with 3Big smile

Recently this act has gained quite the recognition due to Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt claiming it as one of his favourite prog albums ever. I must admit, I hadn't been playing my copy for quite a while at the time, and reading his adoration of it made me re-visit it and felt it indeed was far better than what I remembered it to be.

Just some fantastic psych fusion that is impeccably played. Especially the saxophone player Karsten Vogel is to die for. He is without a doubt the most melodic player I've ever heard. Also met him a couple of times and talked about everything from Charlie Parker to his adventures from the 70s playing venues in Germany with the Mahavishnu Orchestra and so forth.

Their first two albums are brilliant. The first rather hippiedrenched and psychedelic (whilst elegantly steering away from the kumbaya crowd with a dark touch to the organs). The second one is more snarling and edgy, and you sense a distinct anger in both their lyrics, which sadly all are in Danish, as well as in the music.

^ You liked my review? I spent so much time writting and it didn't seemed natural to me. I wanted to express what I felt while listening but couldn't put into words but you did that worderfully well Clap

About Handwrist, he released lots of albums but I think the last 3 are the better ones, there's much more maturity in his compositions.

Your descriptions sounds promissing, I will surely check those. Alrune Rod is not a problem for me, I'm not a lyrics person. It's probably not as bas as not understanding 'Ascenção e Queda' that I mentioned earlier, to really appreciate the music.

I will soon start to listen to your electronic recs, I'll need it to digest all the Neo-Prog I've been listening LOL

Why thank you SamEmbarrassed

And hey I'm with you regarding lyrics and lingo. I don't need to understand the words as long as I can feel them, if that makes any sorta sense. Portuguese and Italian are perhaps the most beautiful languages I can think of too, so I've never had any problems getting into music with foreign vocals.

Oh and LOL regarding that last sentence.
Just a quick advise though: electronic suits the night perfectly. if there is any particular time of day that will better help you to appreciate this genre, it's those wee hours of the night where everyone is asleep, drinking or screwing.

Today:
Kansas - Two For The Show (Best... live album... ever! Big smile)
Mike Oldfield - QE2
Can - Tago Mago (Amazing album! It really takes the mind elsewhere Cool)
iamthemorning - Belighted

My god what a great album cover!  Simple line drawings are often more dramatic than the "big" expensive ones.

Indeed so.

A while ago I was browsing certain online market places to see if I could boost my collection of Secret Oyster, and saw them being described as "a Dutch band" .. never mind .. one of those ultra liberal foreign kingdoms with free pot, the peeing boy (or was it a mermaid?) and fjords all over.

Tom, what was the album of theirs we got many years ago from the Freak Emporium that didn't have the LP sleeve?! I randomly thought of it the other way, but couldn't recall which album it was!

^ No, I ended up getting that LP with the cut-out cover (Spaced Out). This is the follow-up album which I like more. There's a few psychey instrumentals, even a superb Ozric-like one called Hubbly Bubbly. Wonder why they aren't included here under Psych/Space...??

Frédéric Chopin - Krakowiak
Yes - Fragile
Earth Wind & Fire - Spirit
Peak - Ebondazzar (Quite good electronic album, although this is a series of short tracks Disapprove)
Wolfgang Bock - Cycles (This one on the other hand, is amazing! It can easily stand against many classic Klaus Schulze releases)
Miss Lava - Blues for the Dangerous Miles
Led Zeppelin - s/t
Le Orme - Florian (So much better than Verità. Acoustic RPI with classical and folk influences: it has some similarities with Banda do Casaco. Such wonderful music Approve)

Do you mean Chopin's Rondo à la krakowiak in F major Op.14? Nothing but awesome! Pure magical piano playing, usual when it comes to 'magic' Chopin's music. And as you mentioned one of his works for piano & orchestra, I suggest you listen to 'Andante Spianato in G major & Grande Polonaise Brillante in E flat major Op.22' - man it's pure beauty! Even better! Amazing how everything flows in such a perfect harmony, and how important is the different times between every single note from these incredibly passionate and wholehearted melodies. I love Chopin!... hahahah LOL Just listening to it again, and again and again and again!.... Big smile
