The new Haken album just came in the mail from Lasercd! It sounds fantastic! Who else picked this record up?

Me, I did. Got the magenta coloured version in the post yesterday - not had chance to play it yet though.

Mine is a translucent sky blue version. The sound on it is absolutely amazing.

I've lost my way about Haken over the past couple records. I'll steam this new one first and see what it does for me....
The Mountain, Aquarius are my favs and what I wish they would stick to. There are enough thrashy, emo bands out there.
The last tour I saw they had Leprous on the bill and I almost feel they want to emulate their style.

Rush~Signals 40th Anniversary Release

Was hoping for some live content from the Signals Tour, similar to what they did for the Moving Pictures box set. Hard to think that they did not record any of the Signals Tour. This set has wayyyy too much digital stuff for my liking and the LP is the same version as the 2015 reissues cut at Abbey Road, which I already have.

I will pass on this one....

Signals 40th Anniversary Release | Rush.com

And I bet it costs a pretty penny. I still do not own Signals yet...Embarrassed
I think $230, not sure.......Signals is one of my favs but I don't need all the digital fluff in this box set....

You know something. I agree fully on what you said. I stopped at AFFINITY. lol.
Also. I must admit. I’m a fan of the instrumental discs only. Not the biggest Ross Jennings fan. Vokills. Lol.

I do enjoy Affinity......He sounds really good on The Mountain. He certainly sounds better than that singer from Dream Theater....LOL

It is probably their best record since Visions for me...but that's just me. It's more of the style on The Mountain and Aquarius.

That's puuurty! I'm an SS guy, had some tube gear back in the day but now all SS for me. I do have a DAC that has a tube output stagge. The tube does calm that nasty digital clinical sound....

I'm in need of a new TT Pre-amp, I have a NAD PP-1 and for about the last year I've heard a 60 cycle hum that I was thinking came from my Hitachi TT, given its age. But having recently switched to the Sansui, I still hear the him. I've checked and rechecked every ground and it's not that. The only thing I haven't done is switch input on the HT Amp (a pain in the @55).

So my real question is...should I be looking at a little tube pre-amp or do you think SS would suffice?

As a huge Leprous fan who only connected with the occasional song off Haken's earlier stuff, agree that they have moved in a similar direction as Leprous in their last couple albums. But I listen to them way less than I listen to Leprous, they aren't as good at being Leprous as Leprous is Wink

Tubes do some wonderful things to the mid range because of the secondary harmonics they produce. I personally love both SS and tubes. They both have their place.
The natural sounding warmth is stupidly addictive.

Hi JD. Now before anything. Have you tried swapping out or replacing the tubes to get rid of the hum?
Or if you love the amp you could get the capacitors replaced. I think that would definitely solve the hum.
Doesn’t sound like you have a grounding issue.

That's it...

To tube or not to tube, that is the question,
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The highs and lows of outrageous frequencies,
Or to take albums against a sea of CD's

(with apologies to Willy)
