damn right man! Clap

and just how did Area lose this this group LOL.. who had plenty of sauce... in addition to having one of the greatest vocalists EVER.

bah....

MO always had an atmosphere and structure to the twitchiness that set them apart from the Al Di Meola/solo Bruford calibre of proficient fusion. Also Cobham is one of the greatest drummers EVER.
Somewhat. But imo early Weather Report and countless other brilliant 1969-1972 jazzrockfusion-albums has so much more of atmosphere and structure combined that MO, Bruford and Meola and most PA-faves are just blocking the view

Maybe I need to go back and have another listen to MO but while I always found Weather Report to be exceptionally enjoyable MO left me cold, despite them being an absolutely wonderful bunch of individual musicians. Maybe its all the spiritual garbage that buggers it up. I mean, how is it that JSB can absolutely nail it with St Mathew Passion yet when modern musos go spiritual there brains turn to mulch ? Hari bloody Krishna my arse.

Birds.   Firstly, it was a far more innovative album than Dimple.   Second, that performance is one of the most scorching and beautifully spontaneous ones in rock/fusion history.   Many prefer the debut but I think the band gelled on BoF, a record you could digest without too many trips to the bathroom.

Must review that.  Approve

^ I'm surprised, you usually dig the less polished stuff.   Then again, you likes your symph (and your ELP), so it makes sense.
