Deus ex Machina is many things but not Punk. For me one of the strongest bands ever.
They are not very RPI though, closest Thing would be Area.

There are about 12 or so bands called Deus ex Machina so must have got the wrong one.

Try this
You're right, this link is to a different band than the one I listened to before.
This one is more like it.
Thanks for the heads up.

^ That's my favorite of the New Trolls family, excepting Ibis. Love that album. The Vinyl Magic CD sounds excellent
"I have seen the broken sky turn blue."

I'm not a massive fan of the New Trolls either, Pierre, though I think I prefer the first `Concerto Grosso' album to this one. My problem with it is that only about half of it is really good. There's confusing poppier moments with female backing vocalists I don't enjoy, other bits are really bland, and one thing I noticed now upon reading Jim's review, describing the second last track:

"There is an awful ending of ear-piercing sax that is really dreadful though, watch out for that."

Well, giving the CD a listen for the first time in ages and I totally forgot about that bit, and HOLY LORD I thought my car windows were going to shatter! It's excruciating!!

Thanks, Todd, I'll give it a few more listens before putting it back on the shelf!

Warm and delicate, my friend. No jazz rock sounds like italian jazz rock. And bands like Maad, Cincinnato, Duello Madre, Dedalus or Rocky's filj .. etc don't even sound like italian jazz rock. Big smile

This is my favorite New Trolls album. If I had to pick a studio album it would
be Searching For A Land.

^^

This is a reworked Version of their first album. Very good but their second Album "Perigeo" is better.

They are recording their third (fourth if you want) Album at the very moment....

I liked the first one so I'll definitely look into Perigeo.

and plan on hearing it again today.

I'll look forward to a new Arti e Mestieri album as well!

I have several of their live albums, all good, especially the one which has both a 1974 performance and a more recent show. Both are equally as good!

Now, can I asked what everyone's opinions on this ons is:

ARTI E MESTIERI - Giro Di Valzer Per Domani

It's the second album...Now, the debut `Tilt' is one of my favourite albums, I actually find it to be a real classic. A great mix of eclectic fusion, symphonic prog and even some light RPI elements too.

So maybe I'm just a bit too in love with the debut...but I don't enjoy this second album as much. The playing is still terrific, but I don't think it has as much of an `identity' as the first one. Sounds like a lot of other fusion bands. I don't like the vocal pieces as much on this one either.

Maybe I'm being unfair to it....

I feel the same about Arti E Mestieri Michael, the debut is a real classic, the second one is also good but I think it lacks the charm the debut has, I do like it but actually haven't listened to it in a few years now.
