There are many other good artists, but these are the ones I feel most confident recommending. I'll let others handle the other artists.

quite the competent list

any Women side project is worth a look, and most of their music is up on bandcamp.

Androgynous Mind http://fauxdiscx.bandcamp.com/album/nightstalker
looks like they deleted their bandcamp with the free dowload. First two songs remind me of pink and brown, the other are straight up Women.

Friendo http://friendo.bandcamp.com/album/cold-toads
my favorite of the side projects

Each Other
http://eachotherssongs.bandcamp.com/album/taking-trips

and this band was recorded by Chris Reimer
Freak Heat Waves http://freakheatwaves.bandcamp.com/

Belong - October Language and Common Era are easily two of the best albums of the past 10 years

Chris Reimer was also briefly in the Dodos, which I mentioned earlier, before he died. Their newest album "Carrier" was dedicated to him.

My next recommendation is Deerhunter (not to be confused with The Dear Hunter).

Ugh, don't remind me. It's a shame they broke up because I really liked their most recent album

I'd also like to add Phoenix.

Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is the place to start, with their most recent album, Bankrupt!, being great too.

Big fan of BCC here, seen Joe live and he's a complete animal. Prolly one of the few blues focused guitarist I can listen to.

Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats... imagine if Neil Young and Crazy Horse tried to play heavy metal and had a prominent British accent. Seriously, it reminds me of CH's most abrasive stuff but way more dark and evil.

I am an insatiable Prog Listener. Maybe I am sick of this music. Anyhow I listen so much 70s music. Recent band that I listen maybe you don't like, I propose them anyway.

VERDENA. The oldest disc are very adolescent, but the last (double disc) is fantastic. It calls WOW and this song calls "Razzi Arpia Inferno E Fiamme".

Or try this. MARLENE KUNTZ - "Cometa"

Serbian blues-rock princess deserves to be mentioned in this thread.

Iceage, a punk band from my home country strongly inspired by The Fall, Killing Joke, Wire and the 1980s noise rock groups KJ helped kickoff. There's few surer marks of quality than a band with at least one obviously Jewish key member being accused of harbouring Neo-Nazi sympathies... just ask Blue Öyster Cult and Type O Negative.

The entire circle of artists surrounding them is also worth checking out.
