greatist? Big smile  as it's from many artists but at the same time much what is considered to be the best artists and their best works.

This is a very well made documentary, maybe you all know about this one already. Wife and I watched it couple weeks ago, very enjoyable. She really digs this guy's attitude which I have to agree, he's very mild mannered and conscience of other people...."we enjoy records and music so your my friend..."

I think he hits a few NYC stores...

There's no way Mrs JD will last more than maybe two store visits in a day. I may have two days available so I wanted to be prepared.

I don't even know other places, it could be good to ask about that.

Oh jeez, I think there are a gazillion.......I want to go just to hit the Jazz Record Center. Try using the VinylHub before it shuts down.....I think from Manhattan to south tip there are 20-25 stores showing.

Store purchases have certainly some advantages, even it can be difficult to control oneself. Smile

My last vinyl purchase was expensive but great, and still is

which I got as the original German release from 1989.
But frankly speaking, it's still some challenge for me to listen to it. Big smile

Does that mean we won't be able to buy through them anymore?

VinylHub is on the app, I think it is just a map of stores in all countries. I use it when I travel, find record stores....that suxs if true I've not seen any email/msg.
I never use that feature anyway. I don’t travel much and when I do I’ve always used Google.
Use my Discogs app all the time. My whole collection is finally saved there as of a couple of months ago, and I use it to buy stuff fairly often too.

I don't use the app for anything. But I do have a number of LP's I'm currently considering buying.
Mostly on my phone I search cat#'s for release info.

I use the app when in stores cause sometimes I can't remember if I have an album or not, so I'll check my collection. As well I will look up a particular version to see what people say about its quality.
For new records I will scan the barcode and read what people say regarding sound quality.

Pretty handy for me...
Ok, I'm officially old. I just e-mail myself my excel workbook and I have all the details of my collection I need, including what I paid for used LP's, rough average replacement value, media and jacket condition, cuts/drills/punches, inserts. Just 5 years ago I used to carry a paper copy when I went shopping. LOL
So your that dude with a binder of excel sheets in the stores!! LOL I also use the price data base to make sure I'm not over paying. I will actually call out a record store if they are pricing a VG+ record at a NM/High Discogs value...

Discogs is exceptionel good to look for release informations and as a buying place. I've bought a lot there the last 12 years, but in the recent years, I noticed some more overgrading.
Most of it is over graded, I only look for NM copies and I expect VG+ to arrive. But I also offer much lower prices than they ask, it's rare I pay what they want. If they don't take my offer normally I walk.....
I have bought M sealed as well.
Ditto ! And when the true NM arrives, I cream my jeans.

Did anyone ever use Reverb before they stopped? Was there a law suit with Discogs or something?

I’ve become a lot like Jośe.

Speaking of which. How many of you fine music-heads on here will be buying the new Riverside album?

I know I will. Riverside is releasing a blu ray edition in ATMOS surround. I’m not passing that up.

I just got my preorder from LasersEdge, hoping to spin it tonight/tomorrow. I was not liking the release Friend or Foe, too poppy sounding very 80s with the synth, it does sound like Ah-ha LOL. I do want them to go back to SLS and Rapid Eye Movement sounds, these extreme changes are not sitting well with me.
It seems like they are trying to copy what Steven Wilson did with HCE and TFB......

I got my version 3 days before it was released. Quite like this record already. Thumbs Up

Oh that is so exciting. I think it is gonna be a great album. The first 2 singles I enjoyed.

Glad you support lasers edge as well. I try to limit myself buying music off Amazon. I mostly do cd Japan or discogs now. Amazon is such a monopoly. Lol.

Also I watched an interview M. Duda and he says it is an album you can wake up to first thing in the morning to start your day or have a coffee and sit back.
Duda said in the past most Riverside albums are more introspective and reflective and are best listened to at night. :)

I’m definitely more excited to get the new Riverside over the new Metallica album. And it is so great that riverside release there first blu ray Atmos mix on a studio album. That is a big plus for diversity sake.

I don't buy any music from Amazon, I've seen videos on how they pack, sometimes just in a bag!! Nutz......
I buy new records from Tower Records, The InGroove and LasersEdge mainly. Walmart on occasion since their prices are dirt cheap...Used online I only buy from Discogs sellers.

I spun the record last night and I do like it, really like side D the two instrumental extras. Landmine Blast and Big Tech Brother and Age Of Anger are excellent. The album is an easy listen......Sound quality wise it's very good, the recording/mix is very good as is usual with Magda and Robert Srzedniccy they do great work.

Excellent to hear. Yeah Robert and Magda record really clean. Nice to hear they haven’t submitted to sh*tty industry trends.

I really hope to have the album by the weekend.
Talk with you soon about it once I get a serious listen in. :)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣
