Yes are so superior to most prog bands (in terms of musicianship and quality of their material), it's not even a fair comparison. In my humble opinion, Yes are to prog what the Beatles are to pop.

I don't care what Mr Squire wears..It's his bass playing that interests me and it's obvious that Greg Lake DREAMED of playing a bass guitar like Mr Squire !!!!
As I always tell my kids "Judge ye a man by his actions not his CLOTHES!" !!!
Sermon over almost time to get tut Motherin laws for a Christmas day blow-out of gargantuan proportions.
Happy xmas y'aaaallllll................

Its funny but did you know that Chris Squire and Greg Lake were roommates in the last 60s....
NOW IF WERE TALKING JUST GREG.....!!!
Greg was no slouch on bass... anyone that could keep up with and be heard above Keith Emerson is a genius in my book...and his work with KC was just exceptional for someone who only took up bass a few months before...Greg played all guitars on every ELP album... Lead, acoustic and bass... I don't remember Chris Squire ever doing that....Greg also wrote all the lyrics...something else I don't remember Chris Squire doing a lot of... and also Greg produced the first 5 and best ELP albums.... So add genius producer to his credits.... Greg was a founding member of King Crimson... without his voice on that album... it wouldn't have been the same...Bob Fripp always knew that... thats why he had such a terrible time replacing him... Thats why he and Keith Emerson both refer to Greg as "The Voice". And as I've mentioned before... there's not a voice in the business - prog or not - that could match Greg Lake's voice.
And another thing.... Greg Lake was absolutely gorgeous... Chris Squire couldn't say that either....
I JUST LOVE SERMONING ABOUT GREG.... MY FAVORITE SUBJECT !!!
However, did I ever tell you that I spent some quality time on the road with Alan White on Yes' TFTO/Relayer Tour?? (He was no Greg Lake either)

I'm not interested in mens dimensions, At 194 cms and weighing in at 95Kg I'm not exactly small myself and I have never had any complaints from the fairer sex!
However - Triumvirat - Spartacus - I was VERY impressed (listened whilst Emmerdale/Corrie was on the tele, so the wife was happy).
And any ELP fanatic should surely approve of this music - it's as good as anything that ELP did (That I have heard).
Yeah it's very derivative - but It's another prog album in my collection and it's good on first listening (Always a good sign)
Now it's time to watch King Arthur with my bin lids !!!
See Yawall

no doubt about it. Yes is by far the better band. If it was between keyboarders then it would be a much more difficult poll.

Yes has many more great albums this is how I look at it, both equally great bands, but one kills the other in terms of great albums:
ELP has:
- ELP (1970)
- Tarkus (1971)
- Pictures... (1972)
- Trilogy (1972)
- BSS (1973)
- *possibly* Works I (1977)
Yes has:
- Yes (1969)
- Yes Album (1971)
- Fragile (1972)
- CTTE (1972)
- Relayer (1974)
- GFTO (1977)
- Drama (1980)
- Keystudio (1996-7)
ok its closer than I thought, yes wins 8-5.5 IMO
