Canterbury Scene - Hatfield and the North - The Rotters' Club
Crossover Prog - Be Bop Deluxe - Drastic Plastic
Eclectic Prog - King Crimson - In The Court of the Crimson King
Experimental/Post Metal - I don't own any albums from the subgenre because OM and Sunn O))) are inexplicably absent from it.
Heavy Prog - Rush - Hemispheres
Indo Prog/Raga - I only own one album from this one, so I guess it's Third Ear Band - Alchemy
Jazz Fusion - Secrect Oyster's debut (which is apparently called Furtive Pearl, although those words appear nowhere on my copy)
Krautrock - Ash Ra Tempel's debut
Neo Prog - I own no albums from this subgenre.
Post/ Math Rock - Larsen - Erroneus: A Selection of Errors, just because Nurse With Wound is also on that record.
Prog Folk - Jethro Tull - A Passion Play
Prog Electronic - Brian Eno - Before and After Science
Prog Metal - Ugh. I don't like the genre and only have one album from it, so no vote.
Psych Space - Pink Floyd - Animals
RIO/ Avant - Seepytime Gorilla Museum - Of Natural History
RPI - Il Baletto Di Brozo - Ys
Symphonic - Camel - Mirage
Tech/Extreme Metal - Mastodon - Leviathan
Zeuhl - All I have is Magma's MDK, and I don't like it that much. No vote.
Various - I don't have any of these.
Prog Related - Queen II
Proto Prog - The Crazy World of Arthur Brown!

Earth and Pelican are both on my list of bands to check out. Just haven't made it around to them yet.

Nothing like a good long train journey to focus the mind. My choices are based on where the albums are located on the site.
Canterbury. Caravan - If I Could Do It All Over Again...... Crossover. Roger Waters - Amused To Death Eclectic. King Crimson - Red Experimental/post metal. Nothing in this Heavy Prog. Rush - Moving Pictures Indo/Raga. Not a clue. Jazz Rock/Fusion. Julian Julien- Strange Krautrock. I am in a Krautrock free zone. Neo. Marillion - Marbles Post Rock/Math Rock. Nothing in this. Prog Folk. The Decemberists - Hazards of Love Prog Electronic. Tangerine Dream - Force Majeure Progressive Metal. Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 2. Scenes from a Memory Psych/Space Rock. Pink Floyd - Animals Rio/Avant. Nothing in this RPI. PFM - Per Un Amico Symphonic. Genesis - Nursery Cryme Tech Extreme. Nothing at all Zeuhl. Ditto Various Artists. The Young Person's Guide to Discipline - Sometimes God Hides Prog Related. Rainbow- Down To Earth Proto Prog. The Who - Quadrophenia

Canterbury: Caravan - In the Land of Grey and Pink Crossover: Peter Gabriel - Security Eclectic: VDGG - Godbluff Heavy: Rush - A Farewell to Kings Neo: Marillion - Clutching at Straws Prog Folk: Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood Psych/Space: Pink Floyd - Meddle RPI: PFM - l'Isola di Niente Symphonic: Genesis - Selling England by the Pound Zeuhl: Magma - KA I skipped over the ones I'm not well-versed in and went with Snowie's guidelines about picking an album that fits in the genre. So while I think Thick as a Brick is JT's best album, I think that's more a symphonic than prog folk album and so went with Songs from the Wood instead, for example.

I consider Meddle to be the best space rock album there is.

That's 2/3 of the album right there. I think the rest of the album is pretty good too. Love Pillow of Winds and Fearless. Seamus and San Tropez are kind of throwaways but fun songs ntl. Probably, alongside Animals, it's my favorite Floyd album.

1/3* :P
I like Pillow of Winds too, the others either suck or have gotten old. Whatever though, i just disagreed that Meddle was definitive space rock album.

I dunno if it's the definitive album, but it is my favorite. And considering that Echoes is half the album, when you toss in One of These Days, that gives you about 2/3 of the album (timewise).
