For me, in no order except that which I type them:
The Doors Pink Floyd Osanna Gentle Giant Opeth Jethro Tull Quella Vecchia Locanda King Crimson Led Zeppelin Le Orme Some are obviously more prog than others, and I know QVL have only two albums but they're both stunning and so make my top ten nearly every time I do a top ten. |

Classic era Prog bands
Modern Prog Bands
Prog Related Bands
Iván Note: Any Classical era and Modern band can be in my top ten, the division is only for eras, no because of quality. Edited by Ivan_Melgar_M - July 01 2011 at 13:29 |

Normally when I do these things, I tend to ONLY list bands that I feel are clearly exemplary of Prog, but this time I'm going to forego that rule and list any bands I want that happen to be on PA. So here's my list:
1. Pink Floyd 2. Sigur Ros 3. Radiohead 4. King Crimson 5. Ulver 6. Agalloch 7. Isis 8. Van Der Graaf Generator 9. Yes 10. Anglagard

I'm not counting any of the PA-included jazzlegends here. I can't think of Miles Davis or Herbie Hancock as "prog bands".
Can Art Zoyd Magma The Residents Kraftwerk King Crimson Van Der Graaf Generator Soft Machine ...there's about ten bands I'd like to include here on the two last spots... Gong, Tangerine Dream, Genesis, Pink Floyd, GYBE, Secret Chiefs 3, Kayo Dot, Univers Zero, Popol Vuh, Non Credo, Guapo |
