Stewart Bell from Citizen Cain have his first solo album out.
Promo videos and samples are here. Possibly an artist that belongs somewhere in here? |

Proggnosis has him: http://www.proggnosis.com/ARTIST_DETAIL.aspx?AID=12041.
The Antechamber Of Being (Part 1) The much anticipated debut solo album from Citizen Cains main composer and keys player Stewart Bell is a prog rock opera featuring five vocalists; Simone Rossetti, Arjen Anthony Lucassen, Bekah Mhairi Comrie, Phil Allen and Stewart himself. The story is based on his own experiences as a lifelong lucid dreamer and follows the adventures of a young boy as he masters the ability to control his dreams. This epic concept album chronicles the key events in his life, the weird synchronicities, strange experiences and profound questions that naturally arise when one grows up living in the twin worlds of dream and real. The first in a trilogy The Antechamber Of Being will appeal not only to existing Citizen Cain fans but also to a much wider audience as Stewart delves into elements of prog metal, experiments with new soundscapes and brings his unique storytelling gift to the lyrics, in which he also shares his extensive knowledge of lucid dreaming. The compact disc or digital version as well as the accompanying storybook are available from the shop: http://www.citizencain.nl/shop (for wholesale enquiries: [email protected]). The continuous 74 minutes of musical evolution, powerful songs, recurring themes and complex instrumental sections will be sure to please any lover of progressive music while the intriguing, amusing and, at times, touching storyline may even inspire the listener to take control of their own subconscious mind and experience lucid dreaming for themselves

The album can be downloaded in full for £7.99: http://citizencain.nl/shop/test-download-album/, or the album can be bought as a CD for £10: http://citizencain.nl/shop/the-antechamber-of-being-cd-pre-order-sept-14/. Yes...This belongs on here somewhere for sure. More samples will obviously be needed though to decide exactly where. |

"Charts" refers to our voting process for admission of a band (or not). HP is Heavy Prog and Neo is Neo-prog, the two areas where we feel SB's music mostly fits.

i see, thanks Aapatsos. I'm not sure why this isn't just going under Citizen Cain. I (Stewart Bell) am the main composer in the band, Phil Allen reprises his usual role on guitar, (only Cyrus is missing) and this is the next step musically for C-Cain hence my choice of the name "Citizen Cain's Stewart Bell". Musically it's the same as C-Cain so should be the same category...?

Stewart, it is common practice to evaluate releases under a different name as separate "entities"/artists. My impression was that this is a solo album rather than a new CC album.
(I think) this album has (slightly?) different musical direction than CC and therefore might be best to include it as such. However, if this is going to be a "permanent" shift for the band then please let me know and I will discuss with the team - and double-check site's rules. Thanos |

Of course it belongs in the same category as Citizen Cain, however the category for Citizen Cain is wrong IMO, it should be Neo-prog and not symphonic progressive (of course Neo prog basicaly equals symph, just different). Anyway I'm curious as to how it gets added.
For CreepyJohn it's a natural pogression of Citizen Cain, and I guess the fans will follow suit, and even the non-fan enthousiasts and occasional listeners will consider it a natural evolution proces for the band, howevere the name is different being C-Cain's Stewart Bell, which implies a solo effort from one of it's member's. I would add it thusly: Add it as a 'new' band, (and place it under the same subgenre (I would put both in Neo-progressive as that's the most logical place for both, as that's what it is)) and add a paragraph to Citizen Cain, explaining that's how it currently proceeds, and add the obvious C-Cain origin as the first part of this album's band biography. It could of course also be added as a C-Cain album, but I don't know if there are ownership issues regarding the name Citizen Cain, as Cyril was the founder of the band, soi that could be an issue preventing the album be released under that name. But that I do not know, and honestly it has a different Band name (woner how Xitizen Xain was dealt with, but I guess thαt's up to artistic freedom of the band how to write it's own name/brand) anyway, I'm curious and slightly excited about the album.

thanks aapatsos, as long as there is a clear link from the main C-Cain page I guess it will do the trick. It just seems to me that to have spent all these years running C-Cain and building up an audience then to have to start from scratch on here would be a tad annoying. As said before the change of name is simply to inform people that it is C-Cain minus Cyrus. (incidentally he is calling his solo work something entirely different - Arculus)

I agree with the "Neo" category Tuscon. I also covered some of your points in the post above. The brief name change to Xitizen Xain was only used on the album cover and website at the record company's command. It would have complicated things otherwise I guess. Thanks for your advice.
(if you do get around to buying the album please buy from our website, it's always better for us :) Digital version is available there also) |

Even in the band's own site the album is refered as a solo project with no clear references of it being some sort of CC's continuation, at least at the moment, strong links with CC are not an adequate reason to add the album in CC's discography, separate entry should be the proper choice IMO, no matter the team which will accept the project.

And now removed from the Heavy Prog chart, so the initial evaluation will be caried out for inclusion in Neo Prog.
