1985?  I really can't think of anything that I like from that year.  Hmmm...

I haven't heard much from 1996, if I made a playlist it would be just songs from Swans' Soundtracks for the Blind, Camel's Harbour of Tears, and Edge of Sanity's Crimson.

This may inspire me to dig through the music of my birth year.

My hobbies and immaturity suggest that I'm still 15, but yep, almost 30. LOL

And unfortunately, I'm not huge on 80's Rush, but if I had to pick something, it would be that.

I think I like your iTunes better than Billboard, but a would apply to just about any year. We share a lot in terms of that!

Thanks!
Once I started the list, I thought: what good music can come out of 1965?
No prog or even proto-prog.
I was surprised by the amount of good songs from that year, though.

I recognise the feeling. I created the list that started this topic because perfects.nl was launched on my 40th birthday. I was surprised to see how much of my all-time-favourites were actually from the year I was born -  I guess I never really checked the dates on those. :D

I don't know much from my year but Jamiroquai and Prodigy were introduced by my older brother before I started taking my own musical path Wink
I could probably add some music from Marillion or Dream Theater from that year but never listened to those.

That would be faking it then, good choice, haha. Funny thing about Prodigy: they got me my first (and so far only) mention on television, about a year ago. There was a TV show on Dutch television, running old clips (themed by year also, I think) and they played Fire Starter. On Twitter, I reacted to the clip by writing 'Bassie is boos' (boos=angry in Dutch) - since Bassie is a Dutch television clown, and the singer reminded me of him. The presenter was laughing out loud after the clip, while she read my tweet on television. LOL
