Traffic, which has been an early favorite of mine. Excellent band. I like Traffic (self-titled) and John Barleycorn best, but allof their albums are good, except for their reunion record.

Are you kidding me? We got polar opposites here, and what is that obscene landslide vote I see? I guess I under-estimated the number of men over 50 on here. Rookie mistake. Seriously though, Opeth is way more original and exciting than Traffic. I would barely even call Traffic prog they're so mild. Barlycorn is a straight folk album.

There are far more jazz and R&B elements on John Barleycorn than folk music; in fact, the only folk song is the title track. But what can one expect in regards to a discriminating ear from one who thinks that grunts and growls equates to singing.

Oi!! I'm over 50 (over 60 actually) and I voted for Opeth, though I do like Traffic.

You kids and yer Prawg Metal. In my day we had real metal! We took rusty piano wires, strung 'em across broken pogo sticks and strummed till our fingers were bleeding. The only growls happened because we were in agony. And we liked it! We loved it!

^ haha yup, you guys are right. I did oversimplify Barlycorn due to the title-track. The rest was just so dull I couldn't remember anything else I actually do like Low Spark a bit, but they're still kind of a meh band for me. I don't like death growls actually, but I can handle them. Opeth has 3 albums without any growls for that matter.

Easily Opeth Traffic are pretty subpar.

Will have to go with the bland one.
Iván | Have you heard Opeth's last two, growl-less albums. Actually, they hardly have any metal within them at all. Perhaps you could find something to like on those ones.

Traffic. Mr Fantasy and Low Spark are two albums that go way back with me. Then again Orchid does too, but that's the only album of Opeth's I really dig.

Opeth, a band with the power to surprise us with each of his albums. The last two are amazing.

Opeth - talk about attention to detail! Easily one of my top ten favorite bands.
Traffic's okay... but doesn't take me on the amazing musical journeys Opeth does.

Quite enjoy Traffic and would much rather wait in it than listen to Opeth who are only fit for making wands out of (bonus points to whoever gets that reference)

I voted for Opeth based on those 2 plus Damnation. I love them instrumentally on the other albums but I can't stomach the growls. I like Traffic well enough, but agree that they are hardly prog.
