Soundtrack to the film Pi. Which was a great film.

Very much scratches the same itch as Judas Priest's 1970s albums do for me: Lots of sharp, heavy powerdriving fast riffs but with surprisingly dynamic songwriting and elaborate instrumental interplay. Uli Jon Roth's soloing is a joy to listen to, by the way, with his very unique style giving the band's sound a big part of its identity.

Oh yeah, and I wonder how much the original cover art version goes for on eBay if they allow it to be sold at all! LOL (really, who thought that was a good idea?)

I'm starting to really dig Scorpions' run from In Trance up to Taken By Force. This album actually seems to foreshadow the epic progressive side of power metal the same way Accept point forwards to the more anthemic "arena rock in overdrive" side.

I haven't forgotten about them, it's just that out of all the music I've promised to investigate there's stuff ahead of that scene on the list. Basically, right now I like my psychedelic music a tad heavier than that.

Nice, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

My remark is mostly predicated on the fact that even the most underground oriented Best of The '80's lists haven't ever mentioned a Paisley band.

The Days of Wine and Roses is definitely worth checking out, but not for any psychedelia.
Your point is well taken, actually, because I'm not sure I even know what bands are considered part of the "Paisley Underground" or what musical attributes that scene has/had.  So they are in fact largely "forgotten" by me, anyway.  Even if I'm not quite sure what it is I have or haven't forgotten, if in fact I have.  I need to lie down.

Thumbs up on the Scorpions Bonanza, Mr Mantis!  Thumbs Up.   Those Roth-era albums are outta site.

I avoided them for a long time, only being familiar with their big hits from later on which don't do much for me. Turns out they have a similar career arc as Judas Priest only even more so in how much better their 1970s albums are. (though I do like JP's 1980s albums, the "S-trilogy" of Sad Wings of Destiny + Sin after Sin + Stained Class is the kind of streak of genius you don't see very often in any discography)

First listen, enjoying it.

While Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was masterful, I'd written off A.M. and Sky Blue Sky as piddling, and Summerteeth as overrated. That this is in fact one of the pinnacles of alt country is a pleasant surprise for me.

Excellent 1973 release by Italian band New Trolls using the name Atomic System.
Guitar, flute, tenor sax and just about every type of keyboard you can name
blend with Italian vocals to make this one great sounding album.

GUIDED BY VOICES - "Bee Thousand: The Director's Cut" (2004)

A 10-year anniversary pressing of an alternate version of the classic Bee Thousand album - at one point it was going to be a double album with a much different track listing.  This release presents a presumably valid "what if" scenario. Most of the material ended up on other releases instead.

Ah yes, the good ol' Instructions for the Rusty Time Machine double-LP. There are some real gems on that record. Big smile
