Finally getting around to listening actively to Godflesh. They appear to be not just among the surprisingly few industrial metal groups, but also a major influence on a good deal of current sludge metal groups that does not get mentioned as often as either Flipper/Melvins/Swans-style "slow punk" or the rawer end of doom metal. (The Obsessed, Saint Vitus etc) One thing's for certain, few acts in the genre nail the entire dystopian urban future aesthetic so well. |
