Talking about Kraftwerk, first of all they would have to include their first three (3) albums in said box... |

Curved Air deserve a box set, but it's possible that they may already have one. I screwed up by not researching first! However...a Curved Air box set that would feature unreleased material with Eddie Jobson on one disc, a concert of the original band featuring Francis Monkman that would completely differ from their "Live 75' album, and to boot...unreleased studio material of the original band!

A Schulze box, like a Tangerine Dream box, would have to be constructed of an extremely sturdy material, shipped on a crate, and off-loaded with a forklift. Yeah, that would certainly be cost-prohibitive. A Kraftwerk box is very doable. Their discography is surprisingly small (though they could pad it out with singles and live performances), and it looks like they did release one in 2009, titled simply Der Katalog. http://www.discogs.com/Kraftwerk-Der-Katalog/master/199394

Hi,
I don't know ... I have not bought a single box set, and sometimes, I think I don't want to, because I am not a "fan" ... and afte 15 CD's by Ozric's, 25 by TD, 30 by Schulze, and the like ... I do not know why I would need the box set!
I simply find that the remasteres and what not are not as good ... and in some cases, the "feeling" has been tone down from the original ... and this is my biggest issue ... I remember the likes of the bootlegs and the "other" quality, and that is still not showing anywhere.
Exception: Tangerine Dream .... is the only difference, but it's all there already, including so many live concerts to hurt your ears! Why is a box needed? maybe for all the soundtracks? ... Like 50 of them?

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Czesław Niemen definitely. Even good reeditions of his old albums are few and boxset of all his works is something I'd buy right away.

a lot of the bands I'd like to get box sets of (complete studio catalogues) have been done in Japan - those mini-album sets that cost about $600 each. I cant afford that .. so I'd like to see affordable versions of:
- Van der Graaf Generator - Steve Miller Band - Alan Parsons Project (this may be out already) - David Bowie - Gentle Giant - Camel - Dire Straits (and Mark Knopfler) - 10CC - Hawkwind - Anthony Phillips and a couple hundred more bands from the 70's

a Klaus Schulze box might be large, but possible. I've seen 100-disc sets of some classical composers, and the box wasn't overly gigantic, so size isn't a problem. Also, of course, there might be two or three or twenty boxes.
I'd like to see a box of Sun Ra's Saturn Records albums, many of which were only a few hundred copies on first release. Edited by Stool Man - February 24 2015 at 02:01 |

Usually bands that I don't own anything by but are really important. A good example is the Columbia 5 disc set for Mahavishnu Orchestra which I am very happy with.
There is apparently a great box set for Magma that people in the know snapped up pretty quick. I would have liked that one but its now virtually impossible to get. Others I would like (some may exist) Kraftwerk Klaus Schulze ( is that possible??!) The Police ( not prog but would be a nice neat 5 disc set) Steely Dan (used to be a nice box set , does it still exist?) |

What hypothetical box would you pounce on?
Couple spring to mind for me: Coil - Mostly unavailable catalogue going for silly prices. Innovative, esoteric music that deserves to be heard. I'm sort of surprised this hasn't happened already. Bondage Fruit - I'd spring for a box of I to VI like a shot. Try finding II, IV or V anywhere...such a shame this music is OOP and unavailable.
