I've yet to come to this poll yet..  but no I haven't. Not in full. I've heard bits of it, but never all the way through.  It is the only one I haven't of this group... so I'll be doing that when I blow through this poll

I did already vote for the poor 4th in this poll..it needed my vote.. none of the others did...

but still open to being impressed.  Clap  I'll be checking it out, likely tomorrow

Lateralus.

My lady love this album (and band), and we listen to it quite frequently together. I've been getting her into Yes more, as well.

Well it seems we had the Kayo Dot album.. and took it with me to work. Only had time to listen to the first two tracks .. but enjoyed them immensely.

Now back at home, phone is shut off, and going for an uninterrupted listen.  This sounds like something I'm going to love.

Yay, another convert to KD!Big smile

You'll have fun exploring the rest of their catalogue, Driver has a very distinct compositional style but no two albums are alike.

Is the composition of these poll groups random?
It's stange to have 4 popular titles here in one spot wile other quartets have at least 3 obscure titles.
It's like having Argentine play Germany in the 16th finals

Anyways, I'll give my vote to Choirs, but the albums from Tool and PT should make final top 20 too probably.

I need to say: I'm not a tactical voter. So when they put Porcupine Tree in a poll, what else can I do than vote for them?
Otherwise I would have voted vor the great sounding Kayo Dot, or that good band I'd never heard of before: Frogg Cafe.

I am sure Micky will provide a thorough explanation of how the groups were formed. He's at work now, but hopefully should be home in a few hours. It should be obvious, in any case, that putting three big-name bands together in the same group was not intentional. We are both big fans of Frogg Cafe, having seen them live twice in the past couple of years, and would not have wanted them to end up last.

Well done, sirClap! Easily one of the best albums of the past 10 years, and a fantastic live band to boot. It seems they will have a new album out by the end of the year.
Ooh!  Good news!  I am also one of the 5 (as I type) lonely voters for this one.

It was only meant to be a semi-humorous comment, no criticism whatsoever for the putting together of the brackets, if you got that impression.
Let Micky just have free time instead of explaining things.

No, thing is: I feel a bit self-conscious, often voting in the modern polls for charming new bands, but as soon as an experienced band like Porcupine Tree comes by, I'm off to voting for them.

I think it actually might be good to have some of the biggies in one poll. That gives some of the lively young bands a chance to come through in some other poll, with no biggies.

Frogg Cafe is one of the many (!) charming new bands that I found in the modern polls.

Four really strong contestants here. Going with the one that impressed me the most, Frogg Café.

completely random draws

I feel it works better than seeding method we used in the band competition.. which led to a large number of mismatches.. obviously.LOL  Here the voter can have, and has had, some damn hard choices with beloved favorites right from the first poll.

still.. it can be improved upon IMO.. a sort of a mix of the two...and that is how we are going to do it in the next edition of 'highjacking the poll section for months'... which will be coming to the forum this winter.

My favorite PT album doesn't need my help & Frogg Cafe is a goner so I'll vote for my slight favorite of the other 2, Tool.

Tool, Lateralus.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.
