He's a way better fit for Black Sabbath than Dio. I don't care for his solo work, however. As a person? I don't know the guy and haven't watched any interviews with him.

Not really, I think he's a bit of a tw&t, but he's always surrounded himself with great musicans. All his solo albums up to and including The Ultimate Sin were excellent I thought, especially Diary of a Madman. As for Sabbath, no complaints at all there either.

His wife gets on my t!ts if I'm honest...

I think he's funny...at least he was in his short lived reality tv show. And his work with Sabbath is fine.....never got into any of his solo albums ,   and as someone else said his wife is a bit obnoxious at times.

I've always enjoyed him as a singer with Black Sabbath and solo.  He seems to be pretty obnoxious as a person though.

Amazing with Sabbath in the 70's and his solo work up to No More Tears was solid.   Beyond that I don't care if he's a buffoon on reality TV.

Yes. I loved his vocals on the first 6 Sabbath albums. All are classics in my book.

Ozzy is a genius, let's face it.   Amazing vocal range, very decent lyrics (most of the time), and one of the best senses of rock phrasing in history.   What is there not to like?   That he was a drunk, slobbering fool?   Well yeah, it's rock 'n roll.

I've always been a big fan of Ozzy's solo works. The man certainly knows his business.
He surrounds himself with excellent musicians and has the vocal ability to stand up to all of them.
As good as the albums with Randy Rhoads were, I think I like the Zakk Wylde period a little better.
No More Tears and Ozzmosis are probably my two favorites.
As far as his personal life goes, I think Sharon deserves the credit for him being alive today.

Not much personally, but agree with Telestrat that Sharon kept him alive.

Musically, the 70's Black Sabbath is his best work...great stuff, to me it isn't Black Sabbath without him.

I don't think metal singing as we know it would be the same as we know it. He did some good stuff, both with Sabbath and solo.

@TeleStrat: Speaking of Wylde and No More Tears, I heard that Ozzy wasn't too fond of Southern Rock at the time, but decided to let Wylde experiment with the genre a bit to see what would happen. Probably one of the smartest moves Ozzy made in his career, as the slide guitars kind of complement the psychotic moods in some of the songs, such as the title track and "Mr. Tinkertrain".
He looks at this world and wants it all... so he strikes, like Thunderball!

^ Both killer tracks for sure. Zakk's guitar playing is outrageous both in solos and second guitar parts.
He went from clubs and bar bands to arena size concerts and pulled it off nicely.
Ozzy was lucky to find him.

He's done a lot of great stuff musically, but let's face it, he's long past his prime.  And by all accounts he's pretty much a dick in his personal dealings.

I would say the first five and half of Sabotage, at least, but I can generally agree with the sentiment.

Diary of a Madman is a masterpiece, and quite progressive for its time.

I've never been a fan of either of them as such. As a kid I bought the early Sabbath albums but my interest dwindled as time progressed. Ozzy's (well, Sharon's) reality tv show was amusing to begin with but got old real quick.

I saw Ozzy support Sabbath at Ozzfest Milton Keynes back in 1998 and have to admit I preferred his solo set over the Sabbath headline set - his solo band was tighter and simply played better than Sabbath (Wylde was simply astounding). Having said that, Soulfly, Panteater and Fear Factory were my favourite acts on the day and Sabbath were a plodding anticlimax by comparison.
What?
