That is a different world from how I grew up. I learned to drive my Grandfather's pickup truck when I was 9 years old. This was on the family farm in very rural Central Texas in the mid 1960s. I grew up in suburban Dallas but spent much time at the farm when school was out. While I like my modern conveniences, I could never go back to living in the big city. Work there, OK, since I must. But live there, never again. I like my open spaces and room to move. The daily commute is but a small price to pay for the peace I enjoy out here in the boonies. |

A great quote from a great man named Dylan Moran (paraphrasing)
"Big conception is that American's are dumb, which is not really true. Every place on Earth has dumb people, some places with even more dumb people than Americans... but Americans have the LOUDEST dumb people."

^Half of the country (or all those who claim to be conservatives) believe in American exceptionalism so I'm not sure about that...

I've lived in many parts of the US (California, New York, Texas, Georgia) and can tell you aside from the National and State Parks, it's not as special as everyone makes it out to be. The people claiming the US's superiority are a minority, unfortunately they are much more vocal and set the global image for us. However, I believe that will change in the coming years due to the majority of Millennial generations more liberal and accepting beliefs.

Home is where you live and where those you love are I think. When you feel like home. It doesn't matter what flag you're under

I live in the USA and I don't like it very much. I do love some of the people here though immensely. I suspect I would love some people elsewhere too.
One thing though, is it doesn't really feel like "home." To me. I don't feel like I am home anywhere I go... This is probably a personal problem though. |

It doesn't matter what the benefits are of living in the US, Europe or anywhere else. You're either home or you're not home.

Another benefit of living in the US is that we have the privilege of feeling really good and productive and FREE about ourselves because we have to pay out of pocket for our health care
