US band, self-described and considered by others as avant, combining quirky rock with jazz, avantgarde and classical orientation with soprano lead vocals.

One album, Bonds of Life (2014), released so far. It's on Spotify

Biography and an excellent band pic on the band's website, two mostly positive reviews here and here...plus one very negative review here - mainly because iTunes and Spotify both lump this album together with the discography of the British blues-rock power trio of the same name founded by Bill Steer in 1999, and that's the type of music that this particular guy was expecting to hear! Well, it's certainly not "utter rubbish" or "total crap" as this latter review suggests, but the Tarja Turunen like vocals are certainly unusual in this type of music, and might take a bit of getting used to for some people. Embarrassed

Edit: The firebird already on progfreak is not this one - it is the band led by Bill Steer, as mentioned above (though only one album from the discography is included on the site, and no country has been assigned). I can't edit that particular entry myself - it needs Mike himself to do that, so I've added this firebird to progfreak with the country of origin in brackets in order to distinguish it from the British band of the same name: http://progfreak.com/Firebird-US--165409.htmlThumbs Up

^ It's one of those 'Various Artists' jobbies supposely provided by CDbaby, who are distributors for the CD. These tubes are seldom available for very long, and already I'm getting a message "This video is not available - sorry about that  :/"   Unless you found something different, of course... Embarrassed
