9:30 Fly for Prog Folk

I recently found out about a band called 9:30 Fly to discover that it is not of progarchives. Although prog-related or eclectic prog could be fitting, prog folk cattegory would be the best in my opinion.

Anyway, 9:30 Fly were a short-lived progressive folk rock act, which managed to release only one self-titled album in 1972 before completely disappearing into the underground. The band consisted of Michael Wainwright (vocals), Barbara Wainwright (vocals, electric
piano), Lyn Oakey (guitar), Gary Charman (bass), and Mike Clark (drums). The band's only link with more famous acts is that they once played alongside The Velvet Underground in Malver Winter Gardens. 9:30 Fly's style is strongly rooted in folk rock, but has some interesting elements of blues rock on guitar parts and soul through the distinct Fender Rhodes electric piano sound.

	I have their City album......I always thought the name of the band was City and the album name was 9:30 Fly! Anyway, it's a decent folk-rock/prog album with nice vocals and a gentle feel. Not too far removed from what the Fairports and Steeleyes were doing at the time. In fact, the best comparison I'd make is to the band Trader Horn. Edited by Intruder - May 02 2016 at 13:38

Fairly unlikely to make the site in Prog Folk based on that, but you never know...Maybe someone from that team will take a listen and decide otherwise...but I doubt it really.
