I realize that, but 38% of Americans don't. We are programmed to hate communists and socialists and since those that are American Socialists align with Democrats....that makes all Democrats Socialists...and therefore the enemy that we must protect this country against.

Trump can do what he always does, agree to the new rules and then do whatever he wants. Why change now?

More breaking news: The debate may not have effected voters much, but it had a huge effect on the betting industry. Biden just jumped from 52 to 48 to 61 to 39. It pretty much happened the day after the debate, that fast. That breakdown is from a composite of the 5 biggest betting sites.

Of those who do play along for now, there are many who probably will not miss him.

They haven't even censured Trump for refusing to assure that he would respect election results or the Stand Back and Stand By comment. Some might do so now because the pressure to say something after a debate meltdown will be too much but Trump has already been doing this for a long while. Only Charlie Baker came out to make a statement against the mail in fraud theory.

And to your other point, EM, its quite true that the Don isn't a conservative. But he is definitely packing the court with conservatives (and I don't just mean the supreme court) and championing causes that conservatives like, so they will roll with him. At the end of the day, the results are what matter most.

Trumpalot and First Lady Botox have tested positive for Covid lurgy, and entering self-isolation.

It will be interesting to see what, if any, impact this has on the election.

Oh, and before they start coming, let’s try to debate this as adults and keep posts wishing the man dead to zero, eh?

fiat justitia ruat caelum. in a way this is highly ironic. didn't Trump himself say "it affects only older people"? makes me want to quote Sextus Empiricus: "est mola tarda dei, verum molit illa minutim", which was picked up by Longfellow as "though the mills of God grind slowly, yet they grind exceeding small, though with patience he stands waiting, with exactness grinds he all".

somehow it also reminds me of a Jewish joke from the 3rd Reich though: two Jews meet. says the first: "by the just God, what's new"? "well, what good news shall there be? there are only bad news". "by the just God, what's the bad news then"? "Hitler is supposed to be dead". "by the just God, that's not bad news, that's good news". "yes, but it is supposed not to be true".

by this I mean: I wouldn't put it beyond Trump to spread the fake news (sic!) that he is sick with Covid-19 to increase his election chances (sympathy votes) and to avoid a 2nd TV-duel
