Group Lilac Orchestra (later renamed Modus) was formed in 1992 in Russia, in city Penza. At that time few musicians who previously played in various musical projects, and is in constant creative search, are combined into a new group, giving the group the name Lilac Orchestra. In its composition then was Vladimir Ivanov (keyboards), Vladimir Volodin (drums) and Evgeni Melnikov (bass guitar). The first steps in the field of synthesis of different musical styles gave musicians the opportunity to record a CD. The album called "Tsunami" was released on the label SNC Records in 1994, and stylistically was a connection jazz-rock, fusion and new age. The main part of the beautiful melody in the album belongs to the Russian pianist Vladimir Ivanov.
Being influenced by the work of a jazz musician Miles Davis and generated by his experiments of the modern directions of "acid jazz", Lilac Orchestra changed their musical concept and in 1995, writes on the SNC's next album called "New State/Alter Quality". At that time the music of Lilac Orchestra can be described as acid-funk-jazz. Join two new musicians - saxophonist Valery Lyustrov and trumpeter Sergei Zubkov. During this period the band performing in Moscow clubs, changing and expanding your repertoire.
In 1996-97 in the group changes comes a new bassist, a student of the Russian Academy of music named. Music Dmitry Kosinski, and the group changed its name to Modus.

Thanks for dropping the suggestion by. It sounds like a no brainer inclusion to the jazz-fusion world in these parts. I'll drop this by the team right now and give my YES vote.

The group itself for a long time (many years) as not functioning. Group Lilac Orchestra even in Russia, know now only a few. I like music of this group (especially the first album), and I want to contribute to the lighting of their creativity.
