Two sort of underrated tracks off Genesis' "Nursery Cryme". Which one do you think is the better tune? Im gonna go with Salmacis, just can't beat that intro.

I like both equally. I wouldn't say any of these is underrated but I do think that on the album they're overshadowed by The Musical Box.

I'll go for both too. The difference between them is negligible.

Both! I agree that they are underrated. Personally, I like those songs more than The Musical Box, which surely has overshadowed them on stage (Genesis back then and Steve Hackett nowadays, when playing old Genesis stuff).

Both are good, but I prefer Salmacis. Salmacis vs Hogweed would be a harder nut to crack.

Salmacis. There's something about that song that just does it for me in ways that Seven Stones never could.

Fountain of Salmacis is the best piece of Nursery Cryme for me. Seven Stones is close

easily Fountain---if has a preview of the great genius of what Hackett will do for the band with that majestic guitar solo at the end of the song---love it. This is what he always did for the band---stand out unique guitar parts elevating a song to greatness.

This. The melotron part to Seven Stones is perfect though. |

Seven Stones is very nice, but come on....this is The Fountain of Salmacis it's up against, which rivals Firth of Fifth as their best ever track.

Very goods point you made here. I really enjoy the whole album, rather than certain pieces of Nursery Crime. I guess The Musical Box became such a Genesis classic, that it took a life on its own, leaving most of the album behind, but when you listen to the whole album, it's a very enjoyable experience.
