Ceux Du Dehors is all-time favorite album.

Torn between Yes and either of the Rush albums.
Went with Drama for today's mood.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

I Voted for Others:

Prog:
Peter Hammill: Black Box
Peter Gabriel: III
(I like them more than Discipline or Rush's two album, which anyway are very good)

Rock:
Springsteen - The River
Clash - Sandinista
Dire Straits - Making Movies
Lennon - Double Fantasy

Italian Songwriters:
- Bennato - Sono solo Canzonette
- Fortis - Tra Demonio e Santità.
- De Andrè - L'indiano

'80-81 are two crazy, intense years for prog, metal, AND jazz-fusion. Really. Tangerine Dream, Saga, Gamma, Twelfth Night, Al Di Meola, etc., also released some of their best material in that small window.

What metal do you like from that year? Those years I should have said.

Angel Witch – Angel Witch (1980)
Black Sabbath – Heaven and Hell (1980); Mob Rules (1981)
Blue Oyster Cult – Cultosaurus Erectus (1980); Fire of Unknown Origin (1981)
Def Leppard – High 'N Dry (1981)
Judas Priest – Point of Entry (1981)
Motorhead – Ace of Spades (1980)
Praying Mantis – Time Tells No Lies (1981)
Saxon – Denim and Leather (1981)
Thin Lizzy – Chinatown (1980); Renegade (1981)
Tygers of Pan Tang – Spellbound (1981)
Van Halen – Fair Warning (1981)

I'm editing this post later after I remember something I forgot, lol.

Interesting that you left off a few rather obvious ones. In particular I'm referring to killers and the same titled debut by Iron Maiden and British Steel by Judas Priest. Also, the first two Ozzy solo albums. Good list though(despite the fact I don't consider BOC or VH to be metal) and I'm not familiar with all of them so I'll keep those in mind.

It would have to be Moving Pictures, wouldn't it. They'd vastly matured since their previous effort. As for Disciplinezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Not on the list, well, those are two of my favourite years for music: Art Zoyd's Generation sans Futur and Symphonie Pour Le Jour, Dun's Eros, Eskaton's 4 Visions and Ardeur, Bobby Beausoliel's Lucifer Rising, Picchio dal Pozzo's Abbiamo Tutti I Suoi Problemi, Present's Triskaïdékaphobie, Eider Stellaire I, Serge Bringolf's Vision, Abus Dangereux' Le Quatrieme Mouvement, Art Bears' The World As It Is Today etc.

Now that's a list! Clap

A list that most of us have never listened to? Instead of voting for our same favorites every day?

You know it... though I admit I'm a bigger Diary fan.   God what a run he had with Randy, one of the best metal acts ever.

Thumbs Up no doubt.. love both..  but admit to being a bigger Blizzard fan... another case where perhaps Diary was more even more consistent.. a better album???.. like any good ELP fan who acknowledges Trilogy as their best.. yet least favorite album.. I tend to like uneven albums where there are more rough and less polished edges. The highs are just a bit higher..  even if the lows are slightly lower
