You guys knew this was coming. As the results in the "who should go up against SD" poll suggested you guys overwhelmingly chose Roxy Music so here it is. Let the fun begin and don't forget the popcorn.

Roxy Music. They touched some remarkable peaks of art and pathos with their first two albums
(and with some songs of Stranded [Song for Europe] and other Lps).
Steely Dan songs: High class production, very patinated, good compositions but I dont feel the soul, the pathos. Edited by jamesbaldwin - February 05 2019 at 16:48 |

Funny thing. I do like the Dan, but they're far from my fave. But so far, they've been the obvious slam dunk choice in every one of these polls so far.

Much closer, but still Steely Dan...

He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore

Love Roxy Music, but have never bothered with Steely Dan, based on the small number of songs I've heard, so I won't vote.
SD seem highly regarded, so can someone recommend a SD album that may engage my enthusiasm? |

weird but for me they both have one perfect album--Aja---and-- Avalon----the rest is a mixed bag--I'll take Steely Dan by a hair as they are the local boys where I have a home--the college they went to is still well known for its jazz and classical music classes and bands -and I love jazzy music.

I have to go with Roxy Music on this one, but it is very close.
They both have some great albums. This is a great matchup.
