Red, easily: the pinnacle of '70s Crimson. The music on Larks Tongues was far more groundbreaking, but the album suffers from an antiseptic production, and the studio performances sound a little inhibited when compared to live versions of the same material...

Red, just a hair ahead of Larks.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

Red wins for me, but only just barely because Larks' is amazing too.

Red still and over most of my life very clearly, but LTIA is catching up fast these days.

I'm almost certain this one's been done before. Anyway, it's RED, baby!

In the history of King Crimson, Larks Tongue In Aspic is surely most important than Red. It's more innovative than Red. More elaborated. But... for the strict plane of the quality of the songs... Red is better.

I actually find Larks better, but that's per my tastes really meaning simply that I prefer it (I enjoy the music of Larks that much more), but it depends upon which qualities one values. That said, I find both albums great in their own way. It boils down to personal preference. Red would the more accessible album to most, I would think. Lizard is probably my favourite KC album these days, and Islands (which commonly does not get a lot of love around here) is another particular favourite of mine.

Yes but Red was mixed so freakin' loud sometimes it's highly impractical to digest even at a low volume.   My god is that thing loud.

That's quite literally my biggest (and only gripe) with both records:

LTIA is WAY too low (verses on Easy Money require cranking volume and then bringing it back down for chorus)...

...Red is WAY too loud!

Damn it!

Yes, but nothing else.

LOL. The lyrics are rather random, no? Same with pretty much...every KC song ever (especially this era).
