"Shock To The System," followed closely by "The More We Live–Let Go."

An underrated album packed with some great songs, although a Producers’ field day, with a plethora of outsiders gate-crashing the party. I still like this one a lot.

Apparently I have already voted in this poll, but I did not post, so I don't know what I voted for. Possibly Lift Me Up, or the Miracle of Life.

It's only when you see the tracks listed and are asked to choose your favourite, that you realise what an utterly bland, mediocre, safe and unexceptional offering this was... it really is hard to get terribly excited about any of it, so I won't vote.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I guess it's because, though it's great, it comes second to Shock to the System for most of us, not that we don't like it also. |

Sorry, tried deleting the above scripting mess but it came back....(function(){var js = "window['__CF$cv$params']={r:'848e2fd319585744',t:'MTcwNTgyNTczOS4wMzMwMDA='};_cpo=document.createElement('script');_cpo.nonce='',_cpo.src='/cdn-cgi/challenge-platform/scripts/jsd/main.js',document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(_cpo);";var _0xh = document.createElement('iframe');_0xh.height = 1;_0xh.width = 1;_0xh.style.position = 'absolute';_0xh.style.top = 0;_0xh.style.left = 0;_0xh.style.border = 'none';_0xh.style.visibility = 'hidden';document.body.appendChild(_0xh);function handler() {var _0xi = _0xh.contentDocument || _0xh.contentWindow.document;if (_0xi) {var _0xj = _0xi.createElement('script');_0xj.innerHTML = js;_0xi.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(_0xj);}}if (document.readyState !== 'loading') {handler();} else if (window.addEventListener) {document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', handler);} else {var prev = document.onreadystatechange || function () {};document.onreadystatechange = function (e) {prev(e);if (document.readyState !== 'loading') {document.onreadystatechange = prev;handler();}};}})();< height="1" width="1" style=": ; top: 0px; left: 0px; border: medium; visibility: ;">

I played it a lot at the time but then there was little else it seemed. I have a small anecdote surrounding this album that back in the 90's Gary Moore's brother Cliff came to my house on the way to a gig along with his mate (my boss) to pick me up. I struggle to remember who the band was now although I have a feeling it was Dream Theater. Cliff was very impressed with my prog CD collection and asked if I was a musician. He then picked up Union and said that was a great album and reckoned it was their most underrated. I thought little about it at the time but it's always stuck in my head!

"Union" has always seemed like a disjointed album to me, and of the few songs that are saved from the fire through the window are "Saving my Heart" and perhaps "Shock to the System" and "Masquerade", not much more...tastes are tastes...
