Forgotten band with one very limited press double LP album: long songs with a lot of hammonds, mellotron and moog have symphonic or space feel. There ale also shorts tracks in between with blues etc fragments. The best are: "Paper People", "Empyreal Souls" (space!), second half of "Better Way". A lot of things to dig here. Generally album sounds very much like early 70s. People write about the influences of early Yes and Polyphony. https://www.discogs.com/artist/5219985-Metaphysical-Animation https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/metaphysical_animation Metaphysical Animation (1973) https://www.discogs.com/Metaphysical-Animation-Metaphysical-Animation/release/8945170 https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/metaphysical-animation/metaphysical-animation/ full album playlist (in a different order): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5MG_SLwyDU&list=PLNDXBJpEbnzJfUFECV5BVsHAzvN7yw5g-&index=2&t=0s or https://www.dailymotion.com/playlist/x4hv0k A1 Two Songs In Space 9:15 https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4a9pd2 (full song) A2 Ode To A Seraph Chamber Fellow 6:39 B1 Hey Now Mama 7:30 B2 Paper People 6:26 C1 Empyreal Souls 10:27 C2 I've Been Blue 5:16 D1 Better Way 13:15 D2 You're The Guru 4:07 Alberto de Almar - guitar, music, lyrics Bill Sabella - keyboards, music, lyrics Robbie Hanson - drums Steve Margolis - bass informations about band and album: http://cdreissuewishlist.blogspot.com/2013/10/metaphysical-animation-usa.html https://www.planetmellotron.com/revm9.htm#metaph https://johnkatsmc5.blogspot.com/2016/06/metaphysical-animation-metaphysical.html

It's a very interesting and quite eclectic album. I do hear early Yes similarities and Pavlov's Dog moments, and it reminds me of Flight which is included in Eclectic Prog (which has JRF and Symph qualities).
Empyreal Souls is the stand-out for me. To me it is on the Art Rock side of things (a category we had until it was split). It's quite an eclectic album, and without listening that carefully, I would think that Crossover might be a good place for it overall for its mix of blues 'n Prog. Will be interesting to hear what the teams think of it. Here's the longest one, Better Way: Edited by Logan - April 01 2019 at 12:40 |

Oh - their only album was reissued this year. I wonder if this is their dream cover? |
