Well since I can't vote in this poll, I suppose I can at least give an opinion. 'Starless' is my favourite KC album after 'Court'. I agree it's a bit scattershot in terms of source material, but not in terms of quality. Also love 'Trio' even if David Cross - in both this and 'Night Watch' is leaning heavily on Vaughn Williams, e.g. 'The Lark Ascending'. 'Animals' used to be one of my favourite Floyd albums but I've grown less fond of it. Still it's a tough call between the two. I think if I could only have one, it'd be 'Starless'. In hindsight I think 'Animals' is where Waters' political harangues (he's like a prog Jello Biafra) started to make Floyd seem like a backing band. Incidentally I mostly agree with Waters' politics; I just don't find it as lyrically moving as his ruminations about mortality and life in general. Edited by Braka1 - August 30 2019 at 11:30 |

Starless is crap apart from night watchman and Deceiver. The rest just filler

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I'm unable to vote in any polls for some reason. I was wondering whether it was because I had to get a new account. Originally I was just 'Braka', but at some point a few months ago I got logged out, my password didn't work, and I never received an email when going through the lost password protocol. Hence 'Braka1'. I don't remember whether I had to go through a 'can't vote' period the first time around.

I got into Starless' at the drop of a hat. Still can't say that about Animals. Such a let-down after the previous two.

Both are great, but I went with SBB. It has some of the most amazing work of the KC canon...."Fracture" being my favorite.

Waters has been touring the world for years now. Remember at the time of The Wall they were all close to broke. Then again what is the difference between 100 million or 200?

Definitely Starless - how could you not vote for Fracture! Animals is one of my least favorite Floyd albums, aside from Sheep.

MacGyver can do a super guitar solo with a broom and an elastic band. Can you do better?

For starters, Ringo Starr is more than an average drummer and secondly, if Pete Best had kept his job with the Beatles, he'd be worth more than Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters put together today.

I wonder that, too. From the great improv piece "We'll Let You Know" highlighting Wetton's bass play, to the confoundingly complex cross-picking of Fripp on "Fracture", there are so wonderful musical moments. One of my all time favorite albums.

Why not more love for Starless and Bible Black generally? For me it is the one and only KC album that captures the flavor and sense of their en mass group improvisations.

Ringo Starr is worth more than Roger Waters which shows, by your logic, that an average drummer and mediocre songwriter is worth more than a good lyricist.

Roger Waters is now worth twice as much as Dave Gilmour which shows that a good lyricist is worth more than a good guitar player.

Animals is my least-favorite Floyd album of the Rog era. So, Starless on this one.

Couldn't agree more and Waters 'complained' his way to a huge bank account. |
