Both are great, but I went with SBB. It has some of the most amazing work of the KC canon...."Fracture" being my favorite.

I got into Starless' at the drop of a hat. Still can't say that about Animals. Such a let-down after the previous two.

I'm unable to vote in any polls for some reason. I was wondering whether it was because I had to get a new account. Originally I was just 'Braka', but at some point a few months ago I got logged out, my password didn't work, and I never received an email when going through the lost password protocol. Hence 'Braka1'. I don't remember whether I had to go through a 'can't vote' period the first time around.

Starless is crap apart from night watchman and Deceiver. The rest just filler

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Well since I can't vote in this poll, I suppose I can at least give an opinion. 'Starless' is my favourite KC album after 'Court'. I agree it's a bit scattershot in terms of source material, but not in terms of quality. Also love 'Trio' even if David Cross - in both this and 'Night Watch' is leaning heavily on Vaughn Williams, e.g. 'The Lark Ascending'. 'Animals' used to be one of my favourite Floyd albums but I've grown less fond of it. Still it's a tough call between the two. I think if I could only have one, it'd be 'Starless'. In hindsight I think 'Animals' is where Waters' political harangues (he's like a prog Jello Biafra) started to make Floyd seem like a backing band. Incidentally I mostly agree with Waters' politics; I just don't find it as lyrically moving as his ruminations about mortality and life in general. Edited by Braka1 - August 30 2019 at 11:30 |
