^ Well, I love you I guess. But don't forget that there's a thin line between love and hate! Star

Anyway, respect is the anchor. Love and hate are like the waves. They come and go interchangaebly, but respect is permanent.

My world view tells me that, you cannot hate a person whom you cannot love. Imagine a celebrity, who is physically and emotionally very distant to you. Can you hate him/her? I wouldn't. It would be a waste of emotions. Approve

Every now and again, The Birthday Thread likes to provide its very loyal and lovely readers with some new music they might not have come across before, and might even be tempted to buy. We even have some artists who really should be added to the site, and today, for your delectation and enjoyment, we have just the chap. What’s more, many of you will have actually heard some of his stuff.

Neil C announced himself to the prog masses in May 2008, and stayed for six years, posting a mere three times. That might be interpreted as some serious forum slacking, but we will allow him some leeway, because he is an obviously busy chap.

Neil Campbell is from Liverpool, UK, and our Scouse friend celebrates his 47th birthday today. When he came onboard, it was to publicise his Neil Campbell’s Frankenstein, a project about a certain monster, created by a certain Gothic quack, written by a certain Mary Shelley. However, this was not the only monster I discovered whilst undertaking my research. Oh no! For the website in Neil’s name must have been subject to some kind of hacking. How else can you explain the fact the announcement of a BBC performance of the said monster fest was aligned with calls to “buy amoxicillin without a prescription” and “viagra Canadian pharmacy”. Honest! Look! https://neilcampbell.org.uk/news/frankenstein-at-the-bbc/ Actually, I suppose that the viagra might come in handy for a stitched together monster whose second-hand dong fails him at a critical moment.

So, have a wee listen to “Victor Frankenstein” https://youtu.be/tEPvyoOg2gM I find this okay. But what I find far superior is a rather lovely piece of work I listened to on Neil’s Brandcamp site this evening, namely “The Forest Dwellers”. The Forest Dwellers | Neil Campbell  As a result, I will explore more of his material, and hopefully all of you will as well.

So, where have you heard of him before? Well, it is on that rather wonderful Jon Anderson and Rhine Stolt album, Invention of Knowledge, to which he is credited as a co-writer on three tracks. Never doubt that this thread brings you all the prog superstars!

So! Happy Birthday Neil! Stay clear of those real monsters on the streets of Liverpool! Ferry Across The Mersey!

Well today, we had some interesting choices, amongst them a chap who thought that it would be a very good idea to advertise his firm, LA Movers, without actually posting anything to inform the throng of this removal firms services. So, 41st happy birthday wilfredrobby and nearly nine years after you joined us, here is a link to the website for anyone in LA thinking of moving next to their favourite movie star Los Angeles Movers | (800) 445-1403 | LA Movers

In fact, though, said services might be useful for our actual birthday star today when he needs his kit transported. For let us say hello to yet another prog star who has graced the forum of the most avidly read prog site in the known universe, one that the three-headed little green men on the red planet are, as we speak, hacking into the NASA rover to read.

For fstdrmr celebrates his 61st birthday in the Land of the Free today. Jerry Beller listed his occupation as both an insurance agent and a drummer, the former being especially handy, one assumes, if he ever buggers up his spinal cord in the manner of that Genesis bloke who ruined prog.

When Jerry joined the throbbing prog mass that is PA in 2005, he advertised the music of his band, an ELP Tribute act called Knife Edge, based in LA. And also at the time, he played in a band with Ryo Okumoto of the fuzzy faced Vulcan band Music Street Journal - Music News & Reviews

Jerry then moved on to a band quite a few of you may have heard of. I reviewed their debut album in 2010. Yep, he was the drummer with Mars Hollow. Here is their website Mars Hollow - Official Website and here is my review of their debut   MARS HOLLOW Mars Hollow music review by lazland Unfortunately, they only went on to make one more studio album, and a live effort, but they were quite well regarded.

So, what is our Jerry up to now, I hear the masses scream? Well, if you are sitting comfortably, then I will begin. He went on to play in a band called Heliopolis, who are also on our beloved encyclopaedic site HELIOPOLIS discography and reviews And there the musical trail ends. According to Goditssadbook, Jerry now works for UPS in Malibu. He does still, though, have a picture of him behind the kit on his homepage, and mentions session work, so hopefully our good friend is not lost to us musically https://www.facebook.com/jerry.beller.9

Happy Birthday, Jerry. Deliver on time! Don’t slip that disc!

Elsewhere in the bear pit that is the PA Birthday Thread, well they don’t get much bigger than this. Yes, please put those wonderful hands of yours to far better use than (this comment was removed by admin owing to its gratuitously obscene content) and give it large (is that better?) for the one and only Logan! Yep, one of our beloved Admin Team who keep us all safe and warm whilst debating all things prog celebrates his (ahem) 99th birthday today! 1922 in Vancouver? Come on, Greg. How old are you really, man?

You really can tell the mark of a chap from his forum signature, and they don’t come much deeper than this “The first step on the path to wisdom is the recognition of one's own ignorance" (paraphrased from Plato). Our admins ignorant? Never! Bloody fantastic bunch, and it is a fact that Greg is a mighty fine chap, and part of a mighty fine team, and we send him all our best wishes. As a measure of how much we love him, he holds what must be a record 656 thanks. 656! Now that’s what I call a bloody good boss! Note to Admin.....is that enough to earn the fifth star, mate? If not, PM me, and I can always edit this before beddie byes. Ta!

And before we sign off for the night, I have some breaking news which has f**k all to do with birthdays, but will bring just as much of a warm glow to the hearts of every decent person on the site, even more than our love for Greg (5 stars, please. Long overdue!). Yep, the ubiquitous Piers “Morgan” Moron has resigned from his breakfast tv show owing to the fact he attracted a record number of complaints to our gogglebox regulator for comments made about the saintly Megan Markle following her interview on CBS with Ian Wright wearing a wig last night. Here is the breaking news; Piers Morgan quits Good Morning Britain after Meghan Markle row - Mirror OnlineAnd here is Wrighty without the wig; Watch: Ian Wright does hilarious celebration after Hector Bellerin's goal - PlanetFootball Fooled those Yanks completely into believing that some women called Oprah did it!

Phew! Time for bed, said Zebedee!

Well, I have to say that today has been by far the most challenging birthday presentation thus far for your delight and delectation. Usually, after eyeballing our potential candidates for 15 minutes, or so, whilst waking from my slumbers of a morning with the obligatory cup of tea, somebody, or some people, jump out of me and literally scream out, “choose me!, choose me!”

Not so today. Today was a little bit of a challenge, friends. I have, however, settled on soundfactor, or Carlo Delicati as he was named in a sweaty mass of a ravioli infused maternity ward 57 years ago today. Carlo announced himself as a producer in January 2006 who also enjoyed gardening and the intertit. The forum name, and, of course, his posting history were designed to flog us all something, or as Carlo might put it, introduce the masses to some extremely exciting new music, and his post wanted us to give If a chance. As you can see, this did not exactly send the brethren into a writhing mass of excitement http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16976 Regrettably, the link to the nu-prog female vocalist who was If has been lost to the digital equivalent of the rubbish tip down the road, and Carlo’s brave efforts were all in vain.

However, all is not lost, because Sound Factor and our Carlo are still very much with us. Here he is on Linkedarms Carlo Delicati - Remote Recording Audio and Video Engineer - Drums Circle | LinkedIn And here is the website you will all be visiting diligently from now on And Then Carlo was not entirely neutral about And Then, as he plays bass and keys. I gave Skin on Skin a wee listen just now, and can safely say that the Prog Gods who make up our new additions collabs will not be spending a huge amount of time evaluating this. Actually, no time at all. However, if you go onto the current projects part of the site, you might want to give beardy folky types, The Boxty Boys, a listen. Not bad if you groove to that sort of thing. Here is their website Buy Cd or downloads And lastly, here is Carlo’s Tweety Pie page https://twitter.com/carlodelicati

So! Let us shout out Tanti Auguri a Te to our wonderful producer! If only If had been any good, eh? What might have been?

Here you go.

I found Carlo’s FB page, used the FB search function, and found this:

It would appear the name changed from IF to Inevitable Faith. There was a FB for the band according to another post, but the link was dead, so I guess that even under a new name, Carlos didn’t find the success he was looking for.

Ah, thanks Nick for completing the research. As I am not on FB, I can only view pages, I think.

Listening to the track now. I have certainly heard a lot worse.

Many thanks for the birthday recognition.  According to the set date limitations at the site, one can't go older than 99.  Some say that age is a state of mind. I'm age fluid.  Now I'm 99, whereas next week I'm a well-protected 3,165 year old Trojan man.  Technically I was born in the early 70s, but I won't say which century.
Just a fanboy passin' through.

Well thankfully today the picking was easy, just like the living. This is made doubly joyful by the extremely exciting news that the PA Birthday Thread has now attained the milestone of over 5,000 views. Wow! That’s pretty good going when you consider that only 1,257 of them are mine! So, a huge thank you to all you loyal devoted brethren.

The theme for tonight’s extravaganza is food. Yep, dejeuner. Scoff. Tucker.

And first, to celebrate, we really must pay a visit to the world of jimjamtwo, all the way from The Land of Skippy, The Bush Kangaroo. Actually, I can’t let that pass without sharing the wonderful theme tune showcasing easily the most intelligent mammal ever to appear on TV. He would have pissed Mastermind! https://youtu.be/M7xHyYWUxXI Absolutely brilliant.

Our Aussie friend, whose name is sadly lost to us, celebrates his 62nd birthday today. He joined in May 2006, and didn’t bother the site censors once in the nearly two years he stayed. He registered as a teacher, but I don’t believe a word of it. Yep, I believe that this was what by now is becoming a familiar pattern hereabouts in that Bruce was trying to advertise the services of a business, in this case Jim Jam. Have a look at the “consummate producer of high quality preserves and condiments” JimJam Foods, a consummate producer of high quality preserves and condiments. They have a farm shop in Stanley, so, please, any of you convicts residing nearby, please do give Maggie a call. She will certainly thank you for it.

Continuing the food theme, the next one really does make one wonder as to the mindset of some of the personages who register here. Take Gobbly, or Lucy Sausage who apparently celebrates her 39th birthday today. Now, there is a website advertising the services of said banger at Lucys Sausage, but this is based in New York, whereas our gobbling lady stated she was from dear old Blighty. There is also this from “Lord Lucy” https://www.lordlucy.com/post/sticky-sausage-and-vegetable-traybake, but that looks all a little bit too sophisticated for someone who seems to enjoy placing a Percy in her orifice. And, lastly, there is this  Sausage Archives - Lucy Loves Yep, this Lucy would have been the favourite, excepting for the fact that she states that she is in her forties. Nice looking scram, though! I will, naturally, refrain from posting any of the other links I found advertising gobbling sausages and male members. That, my dear friends, you can do all by yourself in the privacy of your own pit. Please do, though, remember the environment when you wash your sheets in the morning. Greta is watching!

So! Happy birthday Bruce and Lucy. Have a glass of Chardonnay with din dins on us!

Elsewhere in the seething proletariat of PA, it is a pleasure to wish our very good friend Doug McAuliffe a very happy 20th birthday, although how he lives with himself being so incredibly young and clever, I really don’t know. Doug joined us a couple of years ago, and is a regular contributor to our intellectual verses. Happy birthday sir!  Go easy on the apple pie!

Sometimes doing this particularly happy little job, you find yourself utterly taken away by the sheer breadth of humanity. The Good. The Bad. And The Barking. I quite often envisage The Almighty sitting atop his bench in heaven, looking down, and thinking to himself......just what the f**k have I done?

Take Golden Vampire, or Taylor Gordon as Mom and Dad named her 32 years ago today in The Home of the Brave. Little did they know on that auspicious day that Taylor would grow up to occupy the following job title. “I am Hamster Tits”. Now, in my line of work, I come across all sorts of weird and wonderful trades, but I must admit that Hamster Tits is a new one on me. Entering this wonderful occupation on Mr Googly does end up with a number of results showing the type of website which might just get one in trouble with the better half when she or he or they or them or no particular preference look over your shoulder to check what it is that you are ogling. So, please take yourself to a nice quiet room, get yourself under the sheets you only washed this morning after examining Ms Gobbly Sausage last night, and feast your eyes on this....

https://images.app.goo.gl/jsW3shps5QJw5AC26

Titillation really doesn’t get much better that that! Taylor spent her brief time on the site in 2007 stating that she hated vegans, calling one of our honoured brethren “dipplenit”, and extolling the virtues of a band by the name of Droopy and the Little Bartenders, who seem to be sadly lost to us.

Happy birthday, Taylor! Stay beautiful!

In addition, we should consider Aiden. Her real name is Christine, and it was her signature which captured my affection. “Love is death waiting to be revenged”. About as deep as it comes, my friends, and I find it a real shame that she didn’t bother to share any posting wisdom in the short time in 2007 she came here.

But the mother of signatures must surely go to Ulyaoth4. Now said Ulyaoth is well known to those members of the yoof fraternity who love staring at a screen endlessly and digitally shooting and blowing up stuff, although we sincerely hope that this does not extend to small mammals mammary glands, because Taylor really would be most upset. Ulyaoth, as any fule kno, is an Ancient from Eternal Darkness Ulyaoth | Villains Wiki | Fandom Apparently, his zombies self destruct if damaged, which does give us mortals some hope in the event of the  coming zombie apocalypse, I suppose. Our friend self identifies as a dude/dudette, which really does strike me as being better placed in California than Iceland, and he is 112 today. Well, he IS an ancient! He is also, I am afraid, by his own admission rather full of sh*t. Take a look at his signature.

Eating waste, swimming in the sewers, eating babies, eating food, defying gravity and physics, eating people’s eyes.

Having shared all of this with the clean living masses in April 2008, he spent a whole one minute here before disappearing forever. Why? I mean, why?

Elsewhere, I am afraid we have nobody from the current collab pool who can be arsed to post here anymore, so Drew and Gandalff will simply have to go without.

Today in the cesspit that is the PABT, the theme is that of advertising one’s craft  to the seething prog masses of the premier prog forum on planet earthdom. Now sometimes our vendors get it right. Sometimes, they really don’t bother at all, no doubt anticipating the happy day when their wares are unearthed for prog immortality on this thread, and others, well you do wonder why they bother at all.

As you will see from today’s post, PA really is pretty representative of the full spectrum of that conundrum we call humanity.

So, first up, we present for your delectation the extremely nice hiddenpath, or Daniel Realpe as his no doubt equally wonderful parents named him 38 years ago today in that South American nirvana known as Columbia. Daniel came onto the site asking the throng of our opinion of his power prog metal outfit Hidden Path, and did so in such a manner as to attract equal respect back. That’s the way to do it! They are on the site HIDDEN PATH discography and reviews but, regrettably, their two albums only attracted one rating. These wonderful looking chaps are also on our hairy metal sister site, and are still at it Hidden Path - Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives Daniel’s impressive fretwork can be heard on the dandruff inducing Organic Control here https://youtu.be/LD3tsYkrR68 Not half bad, actually. To close Daniel’s story off, he works in his home country as a guitar teacher. See Daniel Realpe - Live4guitar marketplace - online guitar lessons and daniel realpe Guitar Teacher, Guitar Tutors, UK. So, for any of you living in Bogtown, or wanting to go online with our hairy hero to learn how to bang your head with the best, you now know how!

Next, we have Myxomatosis, who celebrates his 31st birthday today in Dear Old Blighty. Now, if you are a person of the bunny rabbit variety, the very mention of the white eye disease would be enough to send you into paroxysmal shaking and anxiety. But fear not, for our birthday boy would appear to run an absolutely fantastic Pink Floyd site, which he did not even advertise, strangely. Well, this thread is nothing if it is not a portal for new experiences, so please do pay a visit, and even go onto the forum to argue endlessly about which Floydian was to blame for everything (I blame Syd, personally) Pink Floyd News – Pink Floyd News, Photos, 2022 Tour Dates and More

Next up, we have Trepid, or Kathy, who is 65 today. Her age is somewhat suspicious, and definitely strange, in that she joined the sisterhood of prog in 2009 in her 50’s advertising, erm, hip hop. Yep, that wonderful genre of music involving this decade’s diversity course subjects waffling endlessly into a microphone to the sound of sampled stuff enjoining our dear yoof to rise up in Da Hood. She came on here, only to be given a right old, and deserved, telling off by my very good friend Hercules. Tony, somewhat understandably, pointed out to our hoppity lady friend that PA is, like, a prog rock site.

Actually, her first foray here was to advertise Memphis Slim, which is is pretty good boogie woogie. Take a listen to this https://youtu.be/9h9VQRpN2R4 So far, so good. However, what attracted the ire of Hercules was Lugo. Take a listen to In My Life, described as new hip hop Christian Music https://youtu.be/cSjeeSLr9q4 Bloody awful racket which any right thinking Almighty would run a mile from, if you ask me.

And lastly, let us consider metalinvader665, who invaded, very meekly, our site in 2009, without bothering the pulsating masses once with any opinion in the six months he was here, excepting to leave an internet site for yours truly to click on this morning. Our friend, Whatsisname, celebrates his 27th birthday in the Land of the Free today, and was a tender 15 year old when he registered, bless. The website link takes us to Profile: metalinvader665 - Rate Your Music The band are Icarus’ Cry, another bunch of wonderfully hirsute ‘eavy ‘eadbangers. What was a pleasant surprise is that said metal fiends are, in fact, Japanese, and had a female vocalist. Have a listen here to the altogether cheerfully named Suicide https://youtu.be/KBj-gFxyfzQ Our Samurai hero’s and heroines no longer record, but this was, in fact, a spin-off from the main project, Unlucky Morpheus, who most certainly are still, ronin-like, thrashing through the metal world Unlucky Morpheus - Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal ArchivesTake a listen to this hugely impressive cover of Yngwie Malmsteen’s Far Beyond The Sun https://youtu.be/E2hZDzJp9Pc Bloody brilliant, and love that violin!

So, let us cry out Felicitations to you all! Unsung heroes when you signed up, but, by God, now listened to and admired by personages the whole world over!

Elsewhere, no present collaborating members to celebrate.

Today, being the Christian Sabbath, when all good boys, girls, binaries, and non-specific gender types have a day of rest and celebrate The Almighty in all His/Her/They/Them Glory, the PA Birthday Thread brings you all a celebration of Christian Rock.

And what has this got to do with birthdays, I hear you cry over the intertit ether?

Well, in March 2007, Siberian Khatru joined our blessed throng and celebrates his 33rd birthday today in The Home of the Brave. In fact, he loved our site so much, he joined again, this time as Aresol Kid in December 2007, giving us a wee bit of a clue as to his real identity by naming himself Eric. On both occasions, said Kid didn’t bother to trouble the Priestly Overseers we call Admin with any hint of controversy.

His second forum name, incidentally, could be a misnomer. Is he, in reality, The Arsehole Kid? Or, The Aerosol Kid? Actually, there is a firm in Spain called Aresol, seeking to flog the masses “renewable energy solutions” About Us - Aresol Group, but given they are based mainly in Spain, I do not see the connection. There is also a piece of music named Aresol by a band called Auralexic, which is a dreamy synth track https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=hEvVpKRmkhQ&feature=share

However, what struck me about Eric was the signature he used twice when he registered. “You’re not making church any better, you’re making rock worse”, which is a quote from Hank Hill on Christian Rock. Now, I had to look up precisely who Mr Hill is, and it turns out that he is a cartoon character from King of the Hill, something which has never featured in the Lazland lexicon of goggleboxdom.

So, is Mr Hill right? Well, let us see! Let us take a journey into the weird and wonderful world of Christian Rock and eyeball the sort of stuff Our Deity is banging his head to. Is it any good? Is it godawful, as it were? In order to judge (groan), I took myself off to that encyclopaedia of all things hairy, Loudwire. There, I found the top ten of Christian ‘eadbanging acts, and I present for your pleasure and delectation a sample below, with my own Almighty Dandruff Inducing (ADI) score:

Phinehas. This band took their name from a priest who was a part of The Israelites journey from Egypt, as recounted in Exodus. Here is the wonderfully cheerful sounding Hell Below, which, in fact, has as its subject matter the awful goings on in Kim Wrong ‘Un’s North Korea https://youtu.be/W0E5dqzOg9w ADI rating 9. Seriously hardcore Lord Headbanging stuff

Skillet. This handsome bunch are from Nashville, Tennessee, and are about as far away from Grand Ole Opry as Muhammed is from Edward Scissorhands. Take yourself to the site, and treat yourself to Dead Man Walking, including lyrics https://www.skillet.com/victorious ADI rating 3. Gloriously silly trash which surely must be a candidate as the soundtrack for a remake of The Munsters, or Carry On Zombie.

Norma Jean. Absolutely nothing in common with Sir Elton’s tribute to the saintly Marilyn, except in its joyous campness. They hail from Douglasville, Georgia. Take a look at the funniest video ever made, featuring what can only be described as Elton John in a shark costume for Sword In Mouth, Fire Eyes https://youtu.be/W1I9GIMTVRM  ADI rating. Worth a seven just for the thought of Our Lord falling off of his celestial perch from laughing too much.

And lastly, howsabout Extol, a remarkably morose looking bunch from Norway, proving that The Word isn’t merely confined to America. This lot are actually on our site EXTOL discography and reviews proving that The Lord does, indeed, smile upon the righteous. Look at “the clammy hand that grips” on Sting of Death  https://youtu.be/Qf6lWwqQ9bc ADI rating. 10. You think that’s snow outside? No, man. That is the incredible flakes caused by an Almighty ‘eadbanging session listening to our heroes. Rock on!

So, whilst we obviously wish Eric a very happy birthday, I feel we have to slightly disagree with his and Hank’s overall opinion of our Pulpit Thrashing friends, within whom is a bounty of enjoyment, hardly any of it to be taken seriously at all!

We have no current collabs to say happy birthday to today, but I do think some of you will have fond memories of Shaun Hunt, who signed on here as shaungenesis. Shaun is 59 today, and organised the very well received (apparently, Magenta blew Ray Wilson off the stage with their performance) progSfest in 2004, and he subsequently played bass for ReGenesis. Happy birthday, sir!

I can't think of anything that puts an image of oil and vinegar refusing to mix together than Christianity and rock music. Another great Sunday read! Thanks Laz.

There is also a piece of music named Aresol by a band called Auralexic, which is a dreamy synth track https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=hEvVpKRmkhQ&feature=share
