Your mission should you choose to accept it is to travel the galaxy in search of the best song on this list. I have included 8 videos and one bandcamp link for your listening pleasure. As usual with my theme polls, I have tried to include mostly lesser known artists and songs in the hope that you will discover something new and enjoyable. I try to include multiple subgenres so as to make it a bit more interesting. Who says that there is no sound in space? No video found for Blues for Pluto, so here is a link to his Bandcamp page. As 'Theme' songs go, Derek Sherinian's Mercury 7 has all the elements I want to hear when seeing anything about any Space Force. Close second goes to Chester Gorilla's Uranus for it's groovy 'opening credits', Barney Miller/Sanford and Sons, arrangement. My first choice would have been: |

Well, in my absolute ignorance, I had never heard of any of these, but I loved North Sea Radio Orchestra, who I had vaguely heard of, without listening to.
That will be corrected now, so thank you, Scott.

As a member (non-tenured) of the Galactic Union Committee for Nomenclature Accuracy Standards, I must protest on behalf of the GU on the naming of this poll as "The Best Poll in the Galaxy", considering the contestants do not even leave your local solar system. This otherizes the prog of the remaining 99.9999999999999999999999999999% of the (known) galaxy. While the GU expects little else from a species too primitive to have even developed a functioning sub-light solar sail to reach the nearest Schwarzschild Point, (a mere 2,730AU from Sol 3...I mean, Earth) a little more respect of your interstellar neighbors might prevent the dismissive Dyson Swarming of your local star.
With that, I will write-in Rosetta's Bet Aquillae Not really a space marching song though...is it? Something more driving, perhaps? Very well, Counter-World Experience's - Alpha Serpentis. Although it should be noted that the resident intelligent species of Alpha Serpentis 5 (a planet known locally as "Mormat Naxt") are very sensitive to cultural appropriation and may not take kindly to the use of the local star's name as a battle hymn for another world's "Space Force". I actually voted for resident Dave's Blues for Pluto. |
