Two massive triple live albums from two massive live bands in the 70s. But which do you prefer?
Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

I think ELP's is a better live rendition.

Both are among my favorite live albums. I went with ELP, but not by much.

This. I like the songs on Yessongs more, but the ELP live rendition adds more to them.

The set list of ELP is fantastic but needs a real very good remaster.

Yessongs isn't my favourite Yes live album, but I do like it better than Welcome Back my Friends... both are great, of course. If only Genesis had released it's own classic 70's live album with the complete show (I don't know if it would have needed to be a double or a triple), it would have made a perfect match with these other two.

Prefer ELP as a band to Yes hands down but have never cared for much of the sprawling acoustic centerpiece of Welcome Back (e.g. Take a Pebble gets bo-toxed to 25 minutes) The slapstick 'Keystone Cops' tempos on live staples like Hoedown merely represent a hollow victory for accuracy over feel. That said, it has perhaps the best live versions of Tarkus and Tocatta ever released and Emerson's improvisation and homage to Dick Hyman on Aquatarkus is a neglected Prog treasure. Voted for Yessongs for the superior production and set-list. Just want to echo the previous sentiments from arturfd: Welcome Back is begging for a remaster (My vinyl version sounds boggy and horrible)

Well, even though Genesis never did the triple live album, I think both Genesis Live and Seconds Out are fantastic releases and easily compete with these two triples, particularly Seconds Out.

This is almost impossible to answer. You could not find two better live performances let alone ones which were released in the triple lp format.

ELP but not an easy choice.   For me, it's the improvisations that put ELP's just above Yes's collection but side vs side it is something like this:

Side 1: Yes
Side 2: ELP
Side 3: ELP
Side 4: Yes
Side 5: ELP
Side 6: ELP

A new remaster was done in 2016, and it was re-issued on both 3LP and 2CD formats.
