Founded in 2012, Void Paradigm are a French avant-garde black metal band stationed in Rouen. The lineup, stable since their formation, consists of guitarist/bassist Julien Payan (of funeral doom band Ataraxie as well as Sordide), vocalist Jonathan Théry (also of Ataraxie and formerly of Bethlehem) and drummer Alexis Damien (of No Terror in the Bang and a former live member of Carnival in Coal). Currently signed to Avantgarde Music, Void Paradigm have released three full-length LPs: 2012's self-titled debut, issued through Totalrust Music; 2015's Earth's Disease, distributed via Apathia Records; and 2020's two-song Ultime Pulsation | Demain Brûle.
Void Paradigm's idiosyncratic and unorthodox black metal owes much to the serialism of composer Arnold Schoenberg, further incorporating influences from jazz, post-rock, crust punk and kosmische musik, coining a style which has received comparisons to Ved Buens Ende, Deathspell Omega, Ehnahre, Voivod and Haar. ![]() "Void Paradigm" (2012) "Earth's Disease" (2015) "Ultime pulsation | Demain brûle" (2020)
