I liked Reload as well! "The Unforgiven II", "Fuel", "Low Man's Lyric" and "Devil's Dance" are all great songs.
The first album I ever bought with my own money was Odyssey Number Five by Powderfinger, still one of my favourite rock albums.

I really have no definite memory of what the first album I ever bought
was, but it might have been Rubber Soul by The Beatles. I think I was
six or something. Quite an unusual first album to buy for a kid growing
up in the '90s, being drowned in mainstream music.

I had some Beatles albums that were given to me. When I was eight, I was allowed to pick out two albums for myself. I bought The Carpenters "The Singles," and Cheech and Chong "Los Cochinos." How's that for a contrast.

First single was Joybringer by Manfred Mann, first album was Works Volume 2.
To gr8dane, Britain has, and if Scotland gets its way, never will have a British team. The football team you refer to is Engurland, and it was crap.

To date me as ancient, the first album and single I bought with my own hard earned money:
the first Hollies album
Buddy Holly/Crickets: Peggy Sue
in a special trip to London's main HMV store, and being amazed that the Buddy Holly single was still available there 5 or 6 years after it was a hit.
However, the first album and single I was given:
the first Shadows album - still listen to it - and Santo & Johnny's Sleepwalk.
And first classical: Czech Supraphon Records recording of Debussy's La Mare and Fete - after seeing Ken Russell's impressive Claude Debussy film biography on the Beeb (starring Oliver Reed).

My first album was definitely a Beatles album. I bascially took
ownership of all Mom's Beatles albums, and then bought whatever she was
missing, so the first one I bought was either Beatles for Sale or
Rubber Soul.
First single...hmmm. I honestly have no idea. I remember having singles
as a kid, but don't recall what any of them were. As for purchasing
records myself, if EP's count, it might have been Wall of Voodoo's
self-titled four-track with The Passenger and Ring of Fire. Otherwise,
maybe Flipper's Love Canal/Ha Ha Ha.

My first album was "Billion Dollar Babies" by Alice Cooper when it first came out. I'm not sure what my first single was. It may have been by the Chipmunks!
