Well, I'm starting with Shadow Gallery. I've just listened to the mp3 (sounds really good) on this site but I don't know the album to start with. Please, help me.

Thanks, Barla.

All SG albums are good (edit: except for the first one which is really more like a demo - they recorded it themselves using a drum computer) ... which one's best for you depends on your taste. I'd recommend Carved in Stone to start with if you're not too much into (heavy) metal, and Tyranny if heavy passages are not a problem for you. Room V is their best album (IMO), but I don't think it's good to start with that. Save something for later!

Most people think Tyranny or Room V is the place to start with Shadow Gallery , but I think Legacy and Carved in stone also are great , The first CD titled Shadow Gallery isn`t bad but not their best works

With the exception of their debut their whole catalogue is good.

Try Tyranny and Room V(my favorites).

But Carved in Stone and Legacy are very good too.

No exceptions. The whole catalog is great.

Tyranny and Room V are the best of the best... with the rest closely behind

I knew you would post my thoughts so I didn't bother saying anything before you.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! ClapClapClap

I am glad you want to get into Shadow Gallery. You won't be disapponited believe me!!! (Indeed this is my favorite prog band)

All the releases of Shadow Gallery are exceptional, but I recommend you "Carved in stone" to begin, it is a symphonic masterpiece plaseant to listening and easy to get into....

But after that try "Tyranny" and leave "Room V" at last, not because one is better than the other, it is because "Room V" is the continuation of a conceptual story which starts in "Tyranny".

"Legacy" is another good point to start, this album mixes the elements of softness from the debut album and "Carved in stone" with some hard passages from "Tyranny". The possible problem is that "Legacy" is a very heterogeneous album, it mixes dark and clear nuaces, hard and soft rythms, ballads and heavy parts but if you don't have problems with this fact you should try it too!!!

Have a good listening friend!!! Hope you enjoy it!!!Wink

I'd start with Tyranny but they are all excellent.

I started with their debut. It's a good album, but their other albums are better.

I recommend Carved In Stone or Tyranny as your first SG album. Of course you could try their debut first, but I you don't like it, get their other ones.

Sometimes it is best to start with the latest material and work your way backwards, and this method just so happens to work with this band :)

I would recommend starting with Legacy.  Legacy is one of those in between albums that at the time was their best but they soon went on to out do themselves, in a good way.  But if you start with Legacy it only gets better from there.
BUH!!! It's what the Buffalo say!
