I'll re-post my thoughts from the other thread:

Definitely see these bands:

Tool
Deftones
Coheed and Cambria
Amplifier
Lacuna Coil
In Flames
DragonForce
Clutch
Dredg
Opeth
Secret Machines
Henry Rollins
Johnny Truant (only because they're named after a character in my favorite book, I have no idea what they sound like.)
The Prodigy
Soilwork
Killing Joke
Lordi

And I'll add some bands to definitely NOT see:

Wicked Wisdom (metalcore fronted by Will Smith's wife)
All American Rejects
A7X
Bullets&Octane

sounds like an amazing show... wish i was going.Cry

I don't like Evergrey!

I do like metal, I love Opeth and I like Tool and I think I will see In Flames and Lacuna Coil (not heard them before, but a lot of people I know recommend them).  I just don't like non-melodic death metal (Opeth isn't like that), or stuff like Dream Theater where's it's all showing off.

But I also don't like Metallica.

Yes, Alice In Chains I plan to see.

My best mate loves A7X, grrr!  But she can go and watch them with her boyfriend, haha.

Ed, thanks!  I don't like Trivium, but my friends like them, so I may end up seeing them.

What are Mondo Generator like?  I've never heard of them.

Oh, I know QOTSA..., don't know him, though... I know the singer and Dave Grohl, that's it.

Talking of QOTSA, I must play "Songs for the Deaf" again soon.

Wasn't Lacuna Coil a generic Mallcore group with a female singer? Why is everyone so hyped about them?

They're not mallcore.  they're a gothic metal group, and yes they have a female singer.  they do have poppy tendencies sometimes, but they're far from mallcore.

^ I think the right thing to say is that they were a gothic metal group.

they are getting quite 'poppy' recently but still are good IMO.

However, their earlier releases are of higher quality...
