Topic: Q and not U Posted: June 13 2006 at 12:23 |
I have a close friend who listens to a lot of Indy Rock and while alot of it is musicly good, it is very basic and to me, oh so boring, however we always compermise and end up listening to one of his things then some YES, Genisis ect... However one band that I did find interesting was Q and not U, they have a very progressive sound as well as themes. Odd time signatures and chord progression changes I think people should check them out.

I like Q and not U, though I only have their album 'No Kill No Beep Beep'
I would classify them as post-hardcore alongside bands like Fugazi. They are pretty cool, and do some very interesting things. I happened to see them live once and they had a section of the show where they banged on pots and pans it was good fun.
The Firey Furnaces are pretty good as well.

I'm not familliar with this band, but I do like a lot of the indy stuff out there. I was a big fan of the alternative scene in the '80s, and I get the same vibe from some of these bands. Of course, there are some that are recognised here, such as Mercury Rev, and Secret Machines.

I still need to listen to them. Not a huge Fugazi fan, but I would want to give this group a try, ya know.
