Well, Queue is my favorite Tangent album (followed by the second
one, in fact), but that is also Stolt-less is probably correspondence
without causation. On the other hand, I do prefer Tillison as a
vocalist and my first impression of the Tangent was something like
"This is too FK-like; I miss Po90."
That being said, I have lately discovered that I do, in fact, like the
Flower Kings! Paradox Hotel is not my favorite, but it has some good
tracks ("Bavarian Skies", especially, and that one after it).

^Your first sentence does not make sense grammatically speaking. Stolt is on the second album. If you don't like his singing on the first two, that I might understand, but I would imagine that those two albums would not be as good without his writing contributions and guitar playing.
From what I have heard of PO90 is great. I downloaded their free album off the website and heard some others on internet radio. Who knows if that project will ever get resurrected but it will probably be quite some time if it does. But without Stolt, isn't The Tangent now about the same thing anyway?

That's why I made that point a parenthetical comment. It has so
relation to the Stolt discussion; I only mentioned it because it seems
that everyone talks about the first and third, and I suppose I felt bad
for the second, a great album...
Now, I don't really care whether Tillison writes under the name
Parallel or 90 Degrees or Tangent. You're right, it's essentially the
same. However, the more light and retro sound of The Music That Died
Alone was a disappointing change in direction for me not long after
Po90's darkest and most modern-sounding work, More Exotic Ways to
Die. I respect that most people do not feel that way, and I don't want
to argue the point, for there is no point to argue. There is no
disputing about tastes, and there is no disputing the fact that Stolt
is amazingly talented. 
End of discussion.

Tillison dominates because it is Tillison's band.The first Tangent album was actually meant to be Andy's first solo album but it morphed into something else,went off on a tangent,pun intended.None of the members but Tillison are meant to be permanent.I just had to say that because alot of people are under the misconception that they were a Roine Stolt project,and they aren't.
A Place in the Queue for me,I think it is a brilliant album,especially after the disappointing The World That We Drive Through(which isn't terrible,it's just not in the same league as The Tangent's brilliant debut).

Agreed on most points. The project is Tillison's. Stolt wasn't a creative influence, but his participation in the project along with Jackson's really helped market the project. I quite like a lot of the vocals Stolt did on the first two albums, but I wasn't hurt one bit after his departure. I quite liked The World That We Drive Through, I actually prefer it to the The Music That Died Alone. There are some great songs in "The Winning Game", "Skipping the Distance", and "A Gap In the Night".

I felt bad
for the second, a great album...
The second was a grower for me, while the first blew my doors off. The second gets panned by some but yes-great album.

Definitely A Place in the Queue. A Place is a lot more solid overall and has two amazing epics (In Earnest and self-titled) and the short songs are all very good as well. Paradox Hotel is still great, but there are some songs that don't do anything to me. Right now, A Place in the Queue is my favorite 06 album, but I got The Dark Third yesterday and that might change.

hehe. interesting how you put that babydoctor. i think the tangent sound better without stolt ... and yeah i'll go with 'A Place In The Queue'. i like this album a lot, but i'm getting the 'Instant Delivery' DVD/CD so i can be more convinced of paradox hotel (although the lyrics are somewhat to annoying like wall street voodoo). when you hear karmakanic's wheel of life and the solos that Krister is pulling out there you know that they are only gonna end up on a tangent record somewhere/sometime. so don't fear!!! just get the new karmakanic album when it decides it wants to be finished.
