I had been noticing that every time I saw a normal or average rating for Psychoanorexia, two or three 5 star ratings would appear in the next 24 hours. I'm starting to wonder if separating collaborator and user ratings is a good idea, and then maybe having a third row of stars that combines them. I don't know, I just feel like internet trolls are getting worse and worse, and not just on this site.

Yeah. As The Beatles used to sing: "All those lonely people, where do they all come from" While I can't answer that question, many of them do make themselves visible by doing minor acts of destruction like this. |

Even I'm noticing the pattern now just by reading front page reviews. User I've never heard of, turns out to be account created today, rates a few albums and then reviews Psychoanorexia for 5 stars.
Someone has way, wayyy too much time on their hands. |

Oooooh I think Dean has a problem with me - aaah well, I'll have plenty of sleepless nights over that I guess. I will say though that the Psychoanorexia album did blow me away and that the 5 star rating I gave is really my opinion of what it's worth. It was the best album I've heard for a long time and going into it I didn't think it would be as usually one man band albums don't usually grab me - this one did - by the tonsils. This review explicitly claims to be focusing on the music and not the politics. Then it goes on to focus almost exclusively on the politics. |

^ this is very true, but maybe not an "inappropriate" review as such, just badly expressed

Review in Italian, which is against the rules (the reviews should be written in English) |

WoW, is still online! Usually PA is so fast when it comes to 'bad' reviews of big artists. Well, now there's not much difference anyway I guess, it's not on Front page anymore. |

That review is very well written, it would be a pity. I have never listened to the album so I can't say anything about the contents. It would be nice if the author gets a PM explaining how to rewrite it in English. |

Yeah I just saw that too, I thought he accidentally rated it like this but no he didn't. Not funny, not professional.

I'm not sure I'm relieved to see that VB writing his reviews in the same way that he writes posts on the forum.

Well he does say that he rates it 5 stars for badness...hoho Anyway, I don't think it's particularly funny either. It's a little perplexing, because when he really puts his mind to it, he writes such excellent reviews

He got demoted from Prog Reviewer for "hilarious" joke reviews like this and on the strength of this it looks like he won't be getting that 4th star back any time soon.
It seems he doesn't like having his wings clipped.

(#1016770) Inner Road review is about the Acension album yet the title and picture appears as Visions , their previous album. It was hence posted erroneously . Thanks Thomas

Not reporting any abuse per se.....but I notice an awful lot of 5 star ratings/reviews over the last few weeks.
I honestly don't think I've given out more that one or two on any 'prog masterpiece'.
Am I too stingy or are some people just too easy on reviews?

It's not something you will ever change. I very rarely give out five stars to new release, others do it like confetti. You find, after a while, that people reading reviews will tend to choose those they "trust", and ignore those they don't.

It's very easy to rave about an album you've just heard, I wonder what the ratings of most of these would be if they were reviewed after a six months (or six years).
