*getting a bit hot under the collar*

Didn't any of you read my earlier post? I found Enchant in Art-Rock, knowing they're often classified as PM, so asked the PMT's opinion. There is a dedicated thread in the Collabs section, where the members of the PMT expressed their opinion in favour of a move of the band to Prog-Metal.

So, please, think twice before questioning the Specialist Teams' judgment. Personally, I have no problems in having them in Art Rock - provided the other team members agree with me, since there are four of us (plus an unofficial member, James aka Geck0). I'd be grateful, though, if some of you stopped considering us like halfwits just because you don't agree with a band's placement.

*end of rant*

I've noticed that about a lot of modern Prog. Bands like Sylvan etc can  easily fit in a number of categories.

Enchant are a bit "between the chairs" (as we say in Germany) ... their early albums are clearly non-metal, but Juggling, Blink of an Eye and especially Tug of War are quite heavy. Most other websites (and record stores, for that matter) put them in the metal category, and so did we. Personally I don't mind which category they're in as long as I can listen to them!Wink

People will always doubt the rightfulness of status quo, and this is very progressiveSmile.
Frankly, I could not see anyone here considering any of you to be halfwits - there is rather calm and polite exchange of opinions taking place here (so far).

With all due respect to the great job you're doing, there is nothing better than questionning the Specialist Teams's judgements LOL.

Half of the people here mentionned that it does not really matter under which category this band is filed, and I personally agree with it, although I often doubt the correctness of categorisations here .

Oh no, you're not halfwits because of that... now if you continue with the shots at The Dream.....WinkBig%20smile

As Eugene said, questioning the status quo is very progressive... And I started this poll because I find no metal in Enchant, not even in Tug Of War, a very good album but metallic for like 10 seconds (the intro to the first song, that's it).... Anyway, this poll has been one of the most unbalanced I've seen... Does that tell us everything? Big%20smile

I think 'Wounded' is the only metal-prog album they released. Their previous album 'Blueprint of the world' was produced and also features Steven Rothery. It is more in the 'neo-prog' vein, as are their latest albums. The follow-up to 'Wounded', 'Break'  ('time lost' is a compilation of leftover tracks from the 'blueprint' and 'wounded' sessions) features some "grunge" ingredients.

I only know Tug of War and I don't see any metal here ... nor art or prog. It's a good heavy AOR album.

Admin team... could you at least review the situation, seeing the results here? I know things are not decided by polls here, but just to give you an idea what the average prog fan thinks about Enchant being prog-metal... which is: Thumbs%20Down

Unfortunately, I can't post the link to the thread I opened last November before Enchant were moved to Prog-Metal. The decision was not taken lightly, as there were two teams involved (AR and PM), and the thread was open for a couple of weeks at least before the move was made.

However, as this seems to be a matter of life and death, and you're even asking for the Admin Team's intervention on it, and seen as I couldn't care less where Enchant are, I'll post the link to this thread in the Collabs zone, and see what comes out of it.

Shocked

Calm down... It's not a matter of life and death... I won't die if Enchant are prog-metal... Nobody will.... (well, maybe ted leonard-singer- if he finds out about itBig%20smile).... I'm just asking this because, in case you haven't noticed, I like PA very much, so I want it to be as accurate as possible, as good a site as possible...

There's nothing to be sorry about. You asked us to intervene - I did as soon as I saw your post. Everyone of us wants PA to be accurate, even if we are not talking about hard sciences here. If the members of the PMT agree with moving them once again, we will do so, and make you all very happy.

Juggling, the only album I own, is not Prog Metal to my ears. Far from it, but, I guess that is also in the ear of the beholder.

As a huge fan of Enchant (I own all their albums), I would never really box them into a prog metal label. I think they take elements of prog metal, neo-prog, symphonic prog, and pop/rock and meld them all into their own unique sound. Enchant is really one of the most underrated new prog bands of the last 10 years, I love all of their stuff!

If I had to "classify" them with one of the sites labels, I would have to say art rock would be the most accurate.

I just wonder why I bothered to post a query about Enchant in the Collabs General section, when there are people who seem to have missed it completely. Probably it's perfectly useless to do so, seen as people will first ignore such things, then complain when a band is moved with the agreement of TWO genre teams.

As I don't know the band in question, I asked for the PMT's expertise - which, according to what I've seen here so far, is non-existent, since they all told me that Enchant were better defined as Prog-Metal. That said, I'm not going to move them anywhere before the PMT tells me they're OK with that. Genre teams exist for that purpose - the Admin team have other fish to fry than move bands every time someone decides their collocation is not the right one.

I'd like to inform all of you that Enchant have been moved back to Art Rock. However, I'll be grateful to The T or any other of the participants to this thread if they could write a new bio for the band - in fact, the first sentence of the existing bio states clearly that they are Symphonic Prog Metal, and this was the main reason why I asked the PMT's opinion before moving them. I'd rather not have bands in AR whose bio says they belong to another subgenre.

I'm so glad that I don't have biographies on my website ... sure, they're a great asset, but they can also be a major pain in the ***.Wink
