NiN Thumbs%20Up

Broken and The Fragile are among the most played in my spinner.
I agree with the Ministry recommendation.  Check out their Psalm 69 album.

has anyone else been following the Year Zero stuff? It's pretty interesting, and though I only have The Fragile, I can't wait for it Thumbs%20Up

Yup, I've heard four or five now I think.  Sounds promising, compared to their previous effort (With Teeth).

I find that "And All That Could Have Been" is a good album. If you like the NIN sound, you can replace the whole collection with this one concert album. Listening to this album once a month releaves me of all the anger I withold :) Of course, you should at least hear a few albums such as The Downward Spiral, and maybe Broken in whole so you get an understanding of what the band can do.

Clap
I agree that  "And All That Could Have Been" is a magnificient live performance.
Don't miss also the remixes CD "Still" with it, which features surprising and beautiful piano reprises of Trent Reznor's pieces by himself !

The Broken EP is raw and NiN at it's angriest.  In a good way to my ears. Smile

Even though this is supposed to be suggestions of similar bands, I can't help notice it's turned mainly into a Nine Inch Nails thread.  I think NIN is very worthy of inclusion here as prog related.  More worthy than many of the Metal that's already been allowed.  For the curious, I just noticed that the NIN web site now has the whole new album available for listening in high quality streaming format.  I've only given it one pass, but am eager to pick up the disc this coming Tuesday.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

While I don't agree that they're prog or prog related, I definitely love NIN, and I have heard the whole of the new record.  It's pretty great, far better than the last one.  It's still no Fragile, but it's good.  The second half of the record is better than the first.

One interesting thing is that one of the songs fades into static at the end, and my friend ran the static through the spectrum analyzer in Cool Edit Pro and found an image of the album cover.  That's pretty cool.

You  might want to try Collide.  The singer is female, but they have a lot in common with NIN (their use of distortion and electronic noises, in particular).  The subject matter for the songs is slightly more surreal, but just as dark as NIN's.  They do have a myspace page if you want to check out some of their songs for free:

Enjoy!

Try Godflesh's 'Slavestate' cd, its their most industrial and techno-ish album.

and there are 2 brilliant remixes of the title track.

I don't think trent will ever get back to the heights of The Downward Spiral and The Fragile, The Downward Spiral being one of the best industrial releases ever, but I have respect for him and every time he releases something I hope he can get back to that height cause he is extremely talented.  Although With Teeth got bad reviews I thought it was actually a good album and got regular spins in my cd player.  Not great, but overall good.

I have only heard with Teeth and i think that it's pretty great actually. Very promising start, considering how all of you think The downward spiral is so much better. :)
Also, The Hand that Feeds is great. You are all wrong :)

I like the little that I've heard from NIN's last album, but With Teeth's singles came across as a bit too repetitive.

Skwisgaar Skwigelf: taller than a tree.

Toki Wartooth: not a bumblebee.
