Popular bands + Romanian bands - which are so obscure anywhere than here that they can't even be bought from outside Romania. If you wanted some, you'd have to ask me to buy and post them for you

Mostly popular bands. I rarely listen to anything remotely obscure

If by obscure you mean only limited to my area, then miostly popular. But those "popular" a;bums are extremely obscure as almst no one outside of this forum knows them.

Any kind of band (Except RIO and Kraut which I don't understand), the obscurity or popularity issue means nothing for me, it's only a matter if I like them or not.

Exactly the same. There's no option for me in this poll (mmmm, how curious... )....I listen to whatever music I LIKE, no matter if just some "ultra-indie intellectual" prog-fans like it or if it's only a "mainstream-prog-ergo-less-good-for-my-exquisite-ears" band....

I tend to listen to mostly popular, but I do like the more obscure at times, just for variety.
I have listened to quite a few that are not widely known, and I enjoy most of them. But I do tend to think that those that are popular are usually that way because they are, overall, the best, or most consistent.
There are exceptions, of course!
As usual, it is down to personal taste.

I don't think Mike wants to know what type of prog bands do you prefer to listen to. He's asking, well, what type of prog bands are you listening to. Look up in your library and then you'll have an option.

If we take it from that perspective, let's see.... well, I guess mostly popular, if Fates Warning, Peter Gabriel, Queensryche, Tool, GYBE! qualify.... (as I listen to my music in cycles, that's what I'm listening right now.... in one week the answer would be different... yes, I'm a maniac... )

It's not about which one you *like* more ... it's which one you listen to more. Just have a look at your collection and think about how many of these albums are available at Amazon.com.

^ I just had a look at my collection ... I think that about 2% (20 albums) have never been available on Amazon.com. So I really voted correctly (mostly popular).
