I have a mid 80's issue of Trick of the Tail on CD, and to be honest it doesn't sound much different to me, to the 90's re-master. Unless you actually unhappy with the sound on the issues you have I wouldn't bother spending more money.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I believe SACD CDs also work on normal Audio CD players, so presumably the new release could be an improvement for listeners with normal CD players?

The master tape of Nursery Cryme for example is terrible, digital remaster can help a bit but can't do magic, there's no way to re-create the original sound, maybe clean it a bit but if the drums spound as tin cans in the original tape, there's not much

Two things:

-What is SACD?

-All the Genesis records I own have a "opaque" sound, those are Trespass, Nursery, Foxtrot, The lamb and Trick. Some of them are italians, others "made in Venezuela" (which means crap) and Nursery is "made in

SACD = super audio cd, it does surround sound (if you have a 5.1 system), the difference can be heard by playing on a dvd player, so buying a specific sacd player isnt necessary

In most cases the re-master was more pleasant with the nota
