In 66 or 67 England's football squad put out an album on which they all sang.
Glorious stuff.
Sleeve was like a football that you could unfold,so there were great photos from their accomplishments.

First LP that I bought on my own was British Steel by Judas Priest.  Prior to that my first LPs received as Christmas presents were Elvis Presley albums. 

My first 2 CDs were bought on the same day that I bought my first CD player when I bought Van Halen's OU812 and Cinderella's Long Cold Winter.

First one i ever bought myself was The Who - Live at Leeds.
 
I had already received a few albums as Xmas presents before that though and the first one there would be Slade - Sladest.

That's so long ago I think my first albums were in a Columbia Record House order that definitely included Wakeman's Journey and King Arthur, two dirty Redd Foxx albums (I was too youg for those Embarrassed so of course I enjoyed them a lot, and two soundtrack albums, Earthquake and the second Airport movie.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
 
Years after that, i bought Black Sabbath's debut, Vol4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath & Deep Purple's Made in Japan.
Same year i got more of the classic sabbath albums, Led Zeppelin's five first and maybe something more... hm...
 
First prog album i bought was ELP's debut around 2 years ago or so.

It was undoubtedly a Yes album, but I am unsure which one it was,
 
It woud have to have been Yes, Time and a Word, Relayer, or Going for the One.
 
But I bought all the others that I didn't already have in quick succession.

I think I bought some early 90īs europop collection cd , didnīt know much about music then, didnīt know what I liked, had never bought a cd be4 and thought Iīd give it a try. The result was utter crap.
Nobody needs to go anywhere else. We are all, if we only knew it, already there.

Rick Wakeman - Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Numbers 2 and 3 were SEBTP and DSOTM, and I got Tubular Bells and Ommadawn as Xmas and birthday presents - which (if I remember rightly) was most of my album collection aged 14 - I also had Band on the Run and Venus and Mars by Wings.

LP: Kaleidoscope - A Tangerine Dream

Cassette: 00.04 - Ekseption (This was the first of only two pre-recorded cassettes I ever bought, the other being Kraftwerk's Autobahn)
 
CD: The Complete Mike Oldfield 2-disc compilation (i'd bought my first CD player on impulse and then realised I'd nothing to play on it, so I rushed into HMV 5 minutes before they closed for the weekend and grabbed the first thing I saw - not the wisest method for buying music)

I have no idea.  Embarrassed  Too old.  I could basically afford 45's. 

But first album was possibly Beatles '65.  Some cool dj in Kansas gave me Beatle's Something New.
