I've seen Earthsea. It's got an interesting aesthetic and the character designs and shots are pretty amazing, but you're not missing much if you don't pay attention to the story.

I'm watching Cowboy Bebop for the first time now.

Because of how effective it is emotionally, or because of how bad it is?

Alrighty folks, let us get this thread going again!

In addition of Akame ga Kill and SAO2, i've added 3 more fantastic airing shows from this season to my list.

Parasyte
Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis
Akatsuki no Yona

All three are great so far with each bout 3 episodes in. If anyone is looking for less "serious" shows, then i'd look these up.

My favorite show i'm watching now is Ergo Proxy. wow.
This show is a killer sci-fi drama, fantasy, psychological anime. Fantastic setting, characters, plot, writting etc etc. I believe i found it when searching for Psych-Pass recommendations, but this has much more depth and maturity to it.

I love the characters and story of Akame ga Kill, but the delivery is... odd? I don't know how to describe it, but I think it could be produced/depicted a bit better. Or maybe they're doing everything as intended, and I'm just a whiner. I'm still catching the episodes each week though.

I'm also finsihing Steins|Gate right now (started it a couple months ago, but was staying with a friend who had limited internet), and plan on watching Haibane Renmei per Matt's suggestion.

I haven't read it, but part of the big praise it has been giving is that it follows the manga flawlessly. So i guess the delivery is part of the quirkiness that is in so many animes/manga. I like it, it's charming in some way.

That's the weird part. I've been reading the manga too, and it captures the story a million times better than the anime does. There really isn't a single part of the manga I can pick out as a negative. It could be that I started the manga first before I checked out the anime, but I don't think that's the case (this time). It must be personal preference for me then.

I agree though. The anime has not missed a single piece that the manga hasn't touched. It's spot on.

Ergo Proxy is amazing, I can't believe I haven't watched it all the way through yet but it's a brilliant story.

Started with the new Fate/Stay Night series, Ultimate Blade Works. An excellent start, I hope it carries on this good.

I've only watched 3 episodes, but my impression is that it is some sort of supernatural/horror/psychological thriller type show. The people involved in making it were behind anime like Serial Experiments Lain, Texhnolyze, Ghost in the Shell, and Kino no Tabi, and it really shows. The art/sound/character design are really good so far. I can't imagine it ending up being less than interesting.

Fate/Zero is 100000x better than the Stay Night, at least the original. Haven't looked into the "new" one.

While I'd agree that Fate/Zero is better, I wouldn't say by that much. The new anime should be quite different as it follows the Ultimate Blade Works route of the VN instead of the Fate route like last time.

I'll go first; mostly I love the romantic side of things, both happy and sad. Fruits Basket and Clannad are my current favourites but I have just as many pleasures rooted in the girlier shows. Next, I can't resist certain comedies, although it looks like I've only just begun to adventure here and am most familiar with the ones everyone should know - Azumanga Daioh and FLCL. Less laplace-like, I can be in the mood for horror or introspective, science-fiction-type drama and from here I'd recommend Serial Experiments Lain, Boogiepop Phantom and When Cicadas Cry (which straddles the line between horror and romantic comedy so I love it all the more.) As in music, I stay away from the more action-oriented brands. ;)

I'm only a journeything in the world of anime so if anyone more immersed has any recommendations for me, I'd love to hear them. =)

(I'm sorry if there was a previous anime thread; I tried to search for them but the server simply won't behave.)
Manga cartoons are quite hot Big smileEmbarrassed except for the constant weeping, crying, sweet drops, painful expressions  etc and moaning  LOLBig smile hugs Hug
