i should point out that there WAS a live band once, and that PP was originally a performance art project, wherein we did live shows once a year (totally conceptual Dada art type shows).

so in those cases there were other regulars among the group. some of the recordings feature live stuff from shows (often tweaked in various ways).

and thanks for the welcome James!

well ...

Polyethylene Pet and +1 are basically me playing all of the instruments. The primary difference is that PP is usually more abstract and avant-garde with some ambient-electronica tendencies, music for magnetic tape and the like. +1 is more progressive rock type stuff, for the most part, with detours into abstraction.
but there is a fair amount of overlap.

In short, though - +1 is more accessable rock music and PP is not as easy to predict.

B.Sue and i have collaborated over the last 25 years or so on both projects, co-writing and performing on various of the albums. she and i are married.

she's a writer, guitarist and vocalist and i play keyboards, bass and drums as well as sing. as for this most recent album, of the tracks you're playing tonight,  only Grace has her on it (in the form of vocal samples). however, different albums have her more involved.

when we're not PP/+1 we also have other albums eponymously credited :)

does that help at all? LOL

Apologies - but ttypographic skills including speeling take second place to driving this broadcast deck - so apologies for cock-ups to come - inevitable

Listening from the Jackson Federal Building in Seattle on my lunch break.  Disappointment rains (pun intended)--no aural ego boost for me through the headphones--since your show won't start before my break is over.

Nevertheless I'm enjoying the perky girls on the arts show before yours, and thinking about my niece in London.

Thanks for your interest in our music....

My wife and frequent co-conspirator B.Sue will probably not make it here but she'll be listening. We're both at our day jobs (ugggh). Your show will surely liven up the proceedings for both of us!

It looks like a great playlist tonight. It's an honour to be included...

I'm asking the musicians on Polyethylene Pet's two tracks featuring tonight, Kimara Sajn and B. Sue Johnson, to join us here in the 'chat room'. They also run the Precognitive Records label, which issues a very interesting range of musics  - many of which to satisfy the inquiring prog listener - and indeed often played by the same artists but under different band names!

Anyway, after the sensational night two days ago, I'd love a bit of their music again. Smile

Good idea. No so sure about Garrett, but have "solo" albums by McBride and Colaiuta. BTW relistening to Bruce Hornsby/Christian McBride/Jack DeJohnette's Camping Meeting album, a gem missed by too many people last year. Perhaps it shouldn't have surprised people since Hornsby has skirted the jazz rock area with a couple of 90's albums, but this one is hardnosed nu.jazz.
