week or more ago I saw Michael Formanek "Small Places" new album's supporting concert live, unfortunately they played as trio without drummer ; anyway - interesting balance between american adventurous jazz and ECM sound aesthetics

It's interesting Formanek's quartet (actualy that night it was drumless trio) sounded almost absolutely like on record - that aerial, well calculated, but almost emotionless "ECM sound". One can expect it almost from any ECM jazz release, but I was surprised that it's not a studio work's result, at least in case with Formanek's quartet they implemented that sound even playing live
