Oh don't get me started on The Clash. The single most overrated band ever IMHO, everything with them has to be 'the best ever' and 'important' according to their fans and journalists. They played that Shea Stadium gig supporting The Who for a start to a muted audience response.

I thought it was always Thin Lizzy's live album that came top?

Later Dick.

I'll try and catch you earlier next week.

and then there was the 'Ooo's Live At Leeds. Never trust musical pundits - take that Guardian article re Floyd and prog,. part truth tied with  poorly thought out tosh.

Thinking of their ages. other albums should qualify:

Cliff Richard's Cliff! - recorded live in the studio 1958 & has a remarkably good feel about R'NR in the UK at the time.

Benny Goodman's oft called 'legendary' Carnegie Hall recordings of 1938. Some great 40's recordings by top line jazzers, something like Jam at City Hall 1948....... variously and at varous times Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole got down and jammed.

Digging reveals the Louis Armstrong recording was at Symphony Hall Boston, late 1947 and included the great trombonist Jack Teagarden

This Thursday's playlist -  including two requests made last week. Loaned latest Metalllica album,  and left wondering how PA get   round to discussing such things - and definitely nothing suitable for the show

Absolutely - he always plays superbly - but I wish the bugger was happy in his supreme musicianship and bloody smile when with fans. Although Jimmy Johnson was named on our tickets somebody else filled in and was fine

I like the arrangements here - band members took their own requests in  so their are more in possession- the vocalist take time to accommodate
